i was wondering if anybody has had experience with the Chill Spa? What treatment did you get? Was it worth the money? Was it painful?

Thanks in advance!:goodvibes

Ummmm...The Chill Spa is the name of the spa for teens. It has nothing to do with the type of treatments.

On the website it states the treatments you can have...it is those that I am referring to.

From the DCL webpage for the DREAM:

Chill Spa
Chill Spa is a separate spa for teens located inside Senses Spa & Salon. Offering a wide variety of spa services and treatments, including facials, massages, and manicures, it's the perfect place for teens to relax and rejuvenate while onboard.

Reservations for Chill Spa may be made any time after 1:00 p.m. on the first day of your cruise. Appointment times fill up very quickly, so book your session as soon as possible. If appointments become full and unavailable, you may request placement on the waiting list.

The description for the FANTASY is similar. Is that what you are referring to? Is there somewhere else? That's the only two places I've seen it.
But from what it sounds like its all the same treatments as you would get at a regular spa - so I imagine not any more or less painful than those.

I took it that OP thought Chill Spa had something to do with cold and cold treatments. That is not the case--it is the name for the teen spa.

See...I am very sensitive and I get hurt easily...so thats why I am worried about the treatment. And here they are straight from the website:

At Chill Spa, teens are invited to indulge in soothing beauty treatments created just for them. Services include facials, massages, manicures and pedicures. Examples of spa indulgences include:
Acne Attack Facial – battle blemishes with the help of oxygen and deep cleansing
Heavenly Massage – a relaxing, muscle-melting back massage
Hot Chocolate Wrap – a massage and a delicious, soothing body wrap with antioxidants
Surfer's Scrub – an invigorating exfoliating treatment with fresh lime, lemon and ginger
Ice Cream Manicure and Pedicure – yummy ingredients give hands and feet a sweet treat.

And here is the website:

I apologize if I am just confused, and thnks again for everybody who responded already.

So I take it you haven't had a facial or body treatment at any spa? just trying to get a feel for how to answer. i haven't had treatments on the ship but have been to numerous spas on and off ships for facials, body treatments, massages and mani/pedi. if you tell your technician what hurts you they can accommodate the treatment accordingly.

but if you don't know that it's a potential 'hurt' it hard to do that. so are you looking for general information about these types of treatments or how these specific ones might differ? i can help with the former, but we'll have to wait for someone else to answer for the latter.

In the FAQ sticky at the top of the boards there's a link to a Chill Spa thread that has some info you are looking for.

I can only tell you about the pedicure. My 12 year old daughter had one and loved it. She said it was very relaxing and she would definitely say if anything was painful! She said "It lasts for a long time, the lady was nice" and they painted little Mickey heads on her big toes! It's definitely more expensive than a normal one off at home but it was fun to do on the ship so I'd say it was worth it.

I believe the OP is a teen and is new to the spa experience. If that is the case, then let me answer by saying this:

Your first visit to a spa can be very intimidating (in advance), but by the end of the day....you will be SO happy!! Any good spa therapist will be very sensitive to your issues. If you want to have a massage, but don't like hard pressure, just tell them and they will adjust as you go. They want you to have a wonderful, relaxing experience, not to leave with bruises.

If you "get hurt" easily, you might want to skip the Surfer's Scrub. Too much exfoliation doesn't work well with some people. Other than that, the offerings in the Chill Spa look lovely and I'm sure you will enjoy any of them.

I've recently turned on my best friend (male) to facials and my husband to pedicures. My best friend has agreed to a massage next because he LOVED the facial so much and my husband already has the next pedicure scheduled.

Starting at a spa as a teen....I think it's a great idea. Later, when you are in your early 30's and under the pressure of marriage, job and kids (or whatever your life involves) you will already know the importance of occasionally just doing something nice for yourself!!

No, I have not been to a spa before.

ok, welcome to the fun :)

depending on the prices in your area you may want to consider a trial run on land to get a feel for what you like and don't like. for me the ship's prices are a bit higher than my local day spas so it would suck to get something new and hate it and know i paid that much money for it.

for facials the only thing i can think of that might be painful is extractions or clearing clogged pores. there is a little tool that is often used to 'squeeze' the pores which can sometimes sting. other than that its various cycles of cleansers, toners, and masks. they should use the product best suited for your face, just tell them if you have sensitive skin. some will also use a vaporizer for warm mist to open your pores - this bothers my husband (former asthmatic) so he requests it not to be used.
looking at the description of the "Acne Attack Facial" i imagine you might get some tingle sensations from the cleanser they are using.

massages are totally tailored to the individual. if the masseuse uses too much pressure just ask them to go lighter. its not very relaxing if you wind up with bruises for the next few days.

body scrubs - if your skin is sensitive to products that exfoliate you probably want to skip this. i had one that it was just a exfoliatant product that was rubbed on by hand and i could feel all the little beads scraping my skin. it wasn't painful for me but i could see this not being for everyone. i also had a scrub where they used just a cleansing product and a loufah pad, that was only slightly more gentle.

i haven't done a full wrap (i had a mini one as part of one of my scrubs) but I can't imagine that being painful. if something is too hot, just let the tech know. but i thought that was the best part :)

for mani/pedi's, manicures it depends on your cuticles. some techs will just push them back and other will cut/scrap them off. personally, i prefer my salon where they cut them off. you run the risk of them going too far and cutting live skin, so that's not for everyone. (and I think a lot of places have stopped doing this for liability reasons) but i find the pushers hurt more. otherwise its a nail clip, cuticle cut/push, maybe hand lotion/massage and then polish.
for pedicures they usually scrub your feet so if you have sensitive tootsies that can be an experience. but again, if something bothers you they can find other ways to do things or just skip it.

i hope that helps some and other teens or their parents can give more details about the actual treatments on the ship.
