I couldn't see them on the menus -has anyone had chilli cheese fries there recently?
This sounds really lame but its our first night tradition, as its not something you see a lot in the UK. We've been at Pop the last 2 times we've been but splashed out this time as its our (belated ) Disneymoon.

I don't recall that kind of cheese sauce at POFQ. They carry chili and they carry fries but I think they only have shredded cheese and no chili cheese fries on the menu. You could certainly order some fries and chili with shredded cheese and dump the chili on the fries. It's not the same though. That cheese sauce is ooey gooey good even if it is processed cheese like food (I love the stuff so I'm not knocking it but it is what it is). Any time we stay at Pop, we always get the chili cheese fries. YUMMY!!!

At Cosmic Ray's at MK they serve chili cheese fries. You could always pop over there for a quick treat.

thanks for the speedy reply-we'll probably get them at some time, but because we fly in from the UK, we arrive at the resort around 6pm-but really its 11pm to us, so we don't go to the parks the first evening. Chillis cheese fries was our "Yay, we've arrived, we can eat rubbish" first meal if you know what I mean;)
Guess we'll have to find some other rubbish for our first meal this time-ooh the decisions:rotfl::rotfl:

In that case, get some beignettes. YUMMY!!! They're the POFQ specialty treat. People make special trips to POFQ to get them. If you want actual meal type food, get the mufaletta sandwich. It's not ooey gooey like chili cheese fries but it's another POFQ specialty and OMG delicious.

we have the beignets on our "must try" list:goodvibes
What is in the muffaletta? I know it sounds silly, but you'd be amazed how many times we have no idea what your food is-I have to look things up on Wikipedia, like arugula and pulled pork!

It's a sandwich allegedly originating in New Orleans (however my Italian relatives would argue that fact!) that has an olive relish and delish bread...see:

http://www.colorpro.com/great-sandwiches/muffuletta/history.htm

Quite tasty. Actually, New Orleans has many Italians...people usually don't know that! It's like beignets...have to be made the right way or it's yuck.

I have had the muffaletta at POFQ, you can get it hot or cold (I had it hot) and a side of pasta salad. It was out of this world!

We are headed back to the POFQ in three weeks and I am looking forward to trying the shrimp po boy, DH has his heart set on the taco salad

I know you won't be in MK your first night, but if you're still craving chili/cheese fries later in your trip they also have them at Pecos Bill's in Frontierland. (Probably the same as Cosmic Ray's version of the dish). I haven't had them in a few years, but they were good, and the portion was huge. I'm confident your quest for rubbish food will be successful...after all we're the junk food capital of the world;)

DH2B said he knew he would love WDW as much as me when I took him for a Dole Whip and a Casey's corner hot dog on his first day! In fact I think he loves the food more than he loves me....
You know, I've been to WDW a lot now and NEVER been to Pecos Bills-its another on the To-do list this time. At this rate we'll just waddle from restaurant to restaurant and never see a ride:rotfl:

Glad you have it as a priority to do. We have always loved Pecos Bills and stop for several meals there each trip. :thumbsup2 As for the waddling ... I usually recommend a few laps round the world showcase. Take a dole whip float along with you in case you get thirsty while you exercise ;)

Now why would you go all the way to MK to get a dole whip for walking around the WS? WS has plenty of wonderful drink options to enjoy while waddling, though that may change to staggering as you get further into the WS.
