Chile Mine Rescue, anyone else watching and sending pixie dust?

I'm hearing that a few of them did come up a little sicker than they thought. Pneumonia for one of them and a few others will need oral/dental surgery in the next day or two.

Does anyone know how many rescue people are down in the mine right now?

I think it is still only 2 of them.

Wife of #21 might be busy at home, digging a new hole for her husband. Geez, all that time in a life or death situation and he didn't get a clue. Asking for the wife AND the mistress? That's just stoopit. :rotfl2: That mistress may well find herself the most hated women in Chile in no time flat. If I'd been the hoochie, no way I'd have shown my face on TV.

I have yet to watch the video, but if #21 was subdued, it's probably because he realized he was out of the frying pan and into the fire.

I watched #21 without having any of the background, and their greeting was one I actually did get emotional about! He gave a tiny little smile happy look as he saw her, and he was murmuring to her while she was kissing him. If you look at his skin, he looks very unhealthy...very pale, and his skin is sort of "drapey" or "crepey" (both words work for me, like crepe paper, or like it's just draped on his skull) and he seems like he's not well at all. If I felt unwell (and I have a nasty cold this week and do feel unwell LOL) and was down in a mine, I'd just be standing there, too.

Then I read the comments here, and went back to look at the video, and it still seems the same. Seems he's happy with her in the greeting, I still see the little understated smile as he sees her, etc. That stoicism isn't something that I personally like in a guy, but it works for plenty of people!

Life and death situations make people really think about their lives...and sometimes it's not good news for the longer-term people in those lives...

Anyone else besides #21 have a mistress? And are they taking they coming up last? :lmao:

# 23 was very emotional. I love the way he grabbed and then held on to his mother

While all of the reunions make me cry, there is something so special about seeing a mother reunited with her son.

Mother & son and father & child are the ones that get me the most. :sad1:

And I'm incredibly touched by this last one...#24.

I love watching that wheel turn... #26 has his little girl there waiting for him... I'm crying already and he's not even up yet!

I'm glad you posted that--makes me feel better that I am not the only one crying looking at that baby girl wait for her dad.

CNN just said that there are 5 rescuers down in the mine, not two like I had said earlier.

This little girl is so adorable, and her mom looks just so excited.

Awwww, that poor baby is scared and confused. I can't even imagine how overwhelming that must seem to her.

Isn't it so wonderful that today, the entire world is pulling for these miners. It doesn't matter what religion, color, nationality... Everyone just wants a happy ending to this story!!!

Does anyone know what the sweet little girl was saying/crying? Poor thing, so much chaos!

I thought there were more than 2 down there because I remember seeing 3 go down quite early on but was away for a bit so didn't know if any of them had come back up yet. LOL

He didn't look all that happy to be up. He certainly wasn't greeting the mistress with happy, affectionate abandon like how the rest of the miners greeter their mates.

He was probably worried that the wife would watch on TV how he greeted the mistress and really constrained himself.

According to the captions from the Chilean feed, that was the wife. No wonder it was awkward. I don't think that they would let the mistress be there.

Chilean Sister Wives! :rotfl:

LOL!!:rotfl:

Yes, as someone else said, there are currently 5 rescuers down the shaft and a sixth will be sent down when it is time to bring them up. These guys have been down there since the wee hours of the morning and they want someone fresh to be there to get them harnessed in and up safely.

That little girl was just so sweet. The poor thing must have been so scared. She was yelling that she wanted to go home and then she was screaming for her grandmother. :( Poor thing. I bet that her cry was even sweet to that miner's ears.

I've been so choked up every time one of these guys emerges. I've been watching all day and only missed seeing a few of the over night rescues.

AMAZING!

It is amazing isn't it? It's so hard NOT to watch!
Thanks for the info on what the little peanut was crying....and I agree, even though it was crying I'm sure it was welcome!

My throat hurts from trying not to cry each time they bring another guy up. I'll cry when they bring up the rescue people too I'm sure!

I know you meant this as a joke, but check out the article I just stumbled on :sad2:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...-wives-clash-over-trapped-Chilean-miners.html

Authorities at Camp Hope have had to deal with a rush of women coming forward claiming to be first in the Chilean miners' affections in order to receive government handouts.

At least five wives have been forced to come face to face with mistresses whose existence was kept from them by their husbands, who have been trapped more than 2,300ft below since a cave in on August 5.

One miner has four women fighting over him in an effort to claim compensation offered to the families of those facing between three to four months underground until a rescue shaft can reach them.

Government officials are considering asking the 33 trapped miners to name those they want to claim the benefits entitled to them in a bid to solve problems on the surface.
