Child's safety ID tag

Last year, I purchased a Mickey Head ID tag for my DS (2) and put it on his lanyard. He now wears the lanyard whenever we go somewhere like the zoo or other amusement parks.

I was wondering if anyone had better ideas for where to put it, as the lanyard can be easily lost.

I was at AAA the other day, and they had kid ID tattoos that you could fill out and then put onto your kids - they said they lasted 2 weeks or something like that. Maybe that would work?
