I was wondering how large the portions are for the entree on the child's menu. I see it is mostly sandwiches, wraps, or nuggets. Is the sandwich comparable to say a single at McDonald's or Wendy's? How about the nuggets - 4 or 5?

I am a light eater and did the DDP last time. It was so much food! Even with 2 meals per day I felt constantly over-stuffed. I am hoping to get away with eating OOP on the child's menu this time and save $$$ (and my waist-line).

:thanks: in advance for any help/info.

BearcatsFan- I had the same problem when I went last time too with the DDP. I felt like I had to be constantly eating to get the full value out the DDP, when I often could have shared a meal with someone and been fine or skipped that dessert at the end.

I did get a couple kids menu items last time we went since I preferred them, such as the mini mickey waffles, which was plenty of food and considerably cheaper than the adult size (one large waffle). I have also heard sandwiches or subs are often similar in size.

http://www.mousesavers.com/meals.html#eatinroom They mention kids portions a little ways down the page. This time we are going without the dining plan :)

try getting an appy instead of an entree. Disney has some great appy's. :thumbsup2

I think the kid's portions are plenty big for an adult. My 5 year old son got chicken nuggets which came with fries and it looked like more food than I got. I completely get what you mean about too much food. It is pure torture. At Brown Derby one night I had to decline ordering an entree or dessert since I was so full from the previous meals that day. The waiter looked at me like I was nuts. I knew if I had ordered something, it would've just sat there and I would've tried to eat it and been even MORE miserable if that were possible. Sometimes more is not better!

Most of the child's meals have little variety.

As a small eater who learned a long time ago to avoid DDP, I prefer to order appetizers from the adult menu for my one course.

Same here - most appetizers are more interesting to me than entrees, and the portion size is just right!

Just got back from a 10 day trip with my DD16 who eats very little.
At every TS we went to we asked about ordering from the kids menu for her.
Only the Brown Derby allowed her to have a kids meal. The Plaza let her order kid's grilled cheese sandwich, but gave her an adult sized portion - a double decker sandwich and larger amount of fries. Most places she ended up sharing or ordered just an app.
I don't think you will have much luck with ordering just a kids meal.

Thank you all for the information and advice. I figure if I just walk up to the counter at a QS restaurant and order the child's meal, nobody knows if it is for me or actually for a child, so hopefully I won't have problems.

The appetizer suggestion is a good one I hadn't even thought of. And you're right - most of the appetizers last time were large enough to make a meal.

Thanks again, all! :flower3:
