Child's First Haircut

We are planning on getting our daughters first haircut when we visit Disney in May. I know you can do it, but I have not been able to find much information about it. I know you get it done at the Magic Kingdom, but i don't know where, how much it costs, and what it includes.

I say the first hair cut on a recent trip to the Main Street Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom.

The cm used bubbles to keep attention, gave pixie dust on the hair, gave Mickey stickers and the best gift: MouseEars that read "My First Haircut" and a certificate. All of this was $14 plus a nice tip!

The Ears and certificate are a great keepsake along with lots of pictures being taken by the family!

The Harmony Barber Shop is by the Fire station (on the left if you are walking down Main Street toward the castle)...it is first come first serve so you might have to stand in line but it does not usually take too long to get people in and out...make sure you get there early in the day, they close at 5pm.

You can get her first haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop. If you are standing at the flag pole when you enter the MK, you can look diagonally to your left. Make sure you look for the striped barber pole outside.

We just got my DS hair cut there earlier this month. The woman who cut his hair, Mary Lou, covered him in stickers prior to cutting his hair. I blew bubbles, and Daddy played with one of the Sorcer Mickey spinners as she cut his hair.

As the pp stated, it was $14. We also received a first haircut pair of ears and a certificate to commemorate the event. Mary Lou also saved all of his hair and wrapped it up with some "pixie dust" for us to have to remember the day.

My poor boy...The next morning he woke up with a fever. He ended up having a sinus infection. You can sooooo tell he was not feeling well in these pics.

BTW, the shop deals with walk ins only. First come, first served...If you don't want to wait a long time, make sure to go as close to park opening as you can. We ended up going to the MK in the afternoon. We got there right around 3 when the parade was starting. The line really wasn't that bad. By the time the parde was over, we were finished. My older son actually watched the parade with my husband as I was inside with the younger one.

The last haircut of the day is at 4:30.

I'm going on memory from last October but I believe it opens either when the park opens or within 30 minutes of park opening. They are not open during morning EMH. Usually if we go to the MK AM EMH we'll ride rides for the first 30-45 minutes and then get in line for a haircut for our kids. And yes there will already be a line.

Both of my kids had their first haircuts there and the stylist in there are wonderful with kids!!

We got our DD first haircut there at 4 years old. Yep, she never had a professional haircut before that. I just couldn't cut her little curls, but it was getting too long.

Michael (at least I think that was his name, he's the guy with the grey hair in Megan's 4th picture up above) did a good job, and even though she was 4 she got the ears, the certificate and the hair wrapped up to take home. She's extremely shy, but she didn't even cry and she loved her new ears.

We went around the parade time in the afternoon and there was only one guy ahead of us.
