i dont know if this "bugs" anyone else, but wouldn't it be nice if they came equiped with sunshades and cup holders like strollers.;) Do the makers not think that these kids ever go out in the sun. Or that we parents who have to push the wc ever need a drink. ( I dont know why this bugs me so bad but it does and trying to figure out what to do while at the parks in the hot Florida sun)

I think that accessories are available. It is just that strollers come standard with some items. If you check with your durable medical equipment supplier you will probably find that such accessories are available (but at a cost, of course).

Also, I know some places in Disney sell parasols / umerellas with clips so they can attach to a wheelchair or stroller. There is one place just next to the Hall of Presidents, opposite the Liberty Tree. They might be considered a little 'girly' for your son(s) though, as the ones I've seen had a lovely pink lacey trim on them :rotfl:.

There are a number of ways to beat the heat in Disney, even if you don't get a shade. Obviously go for all the regular sun protection, such as brimmed hats and suncream, as well as keeping everyone well hydrated. Pretty much everywhere inside in the parks has air-con, and you'll be spending a fair amount of your time inside, for rides, lines, shops and restaurants. A little clip-on battery powered fan can keep a steady breeze on your kids, and a damp wash cloth (kept in a ziplock bag to stop anything else getting damp or small ice pack can help cool everyone down quickly (just make sure you reapply suncream afterwards). You can get a cup of ice from any counter-service retaurant for free, which you can use as an ice-pack (in a ziplock) or to cool drinks. When you're watching the parades, try to find the shadiest wheelchair viewing spot; my favourite one in MK is under the Liberty Tree in Liberty Square, as the tree provides shade and you get regular bursts of air-con from the Hall of Presidents opposite :thumbsup2.

Other people will probably have further suggestions to add, hope you have a great trip! :thumbsup2

There are places in the UK where you can buy parasols for wheelchairs, my son is autistic and has one, so I would imagine you can in the US too.

We also find a sun hat and sunglasses useful for protection from the sun and the brightness too.
