Grand Adventures in Cooking
(Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa)
Held Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon, children are invited to create culinary delights with Chef Drew and his staff! The children start by decorating white aprons with their names, the date and their handprints (so you can remember how little their hands were way back when), and they get to personalize (aka, decorate) their own chef hat.
While these "works of art" are drying, a story is read to them. The books that are chosen are directly related to what they are cooking that day, (example: If they hear "The Hungry Caterpillar", they will create fruit kabobs). Most of the preparation is done in advance so that safety is not an issue (the children don't do cutting or anything along those lines) and hygiene is very important, the kids must wash their hands at least 4 times during their stay.
Some of their other creations may include strawberry shortcake, worms in dirt, cookies, mini pizzas, and Butterfinger Cheesecake. After sufficient sampling of these masterpieces, they load up carts and venture out into the resort to offer samples to guests or anyone else they see along the way! So if you are in the area, you might want to "hang out" around the Mouseketeer Club to take advantage of these tasty treats!
This event is open to children ages 3 to 10. The cost is $19.95 but this is subject to change. Call (407) WDW-DINE to book this or check with Guest Services at the resort. This can be booked 120 days in advance.
