Hello Everyone,

Quick question. I was wondering if anyone has had experience in trying to order from the kids menu for children who don't fall into the 9 and under age group.

I will be traveling with some special needs children and would like them to experience a couple table service dinning ( Were thinking 50's primetime or scifi dine in in HS for one). These children will be about 11 or 12 years old and very fussy. Their tastes are more that of what's on the children's menu.

How hard fast is the 9 and under rule?

If you're paying for the meals out of pocket, or won't be a problem - anyone can order anything they want from the children's menu, no matter what age they happen to be.

Dinning plans are a different story, with most places being much stricter about menus and ages matching.

We were there the week before Christmas and my DS who was 11 didn't want to eat from the adult menu, so we were able to order off the children's menu no problem, one of them being Sci Fi. For the buffets we paid for the adult price (he can eat like an adult some times!) He was even able to order off the kids menu at Rose and Crown for the Candlelight Processional, we just paid the adult price and they gave him a bigger portion than the kids (it was for Neil Patrick Harris and we booked late so had limited choices on where we wanted to eat).

when I was on my high school graduation trip I was regularly offered children's menus (I have severe food allergies so that might be part of it) and I mean I looked young but not that young lol. At Disney owned restaurants it is unlikely to be a real problem (you may be given a larger portion and charged more). Some folks have reported problems have been at non-Disney restaurants (La hacienda, Yak and yeti, Tutto, etc.)

Were thinking 50's primetime

I LOVE 50s Prime Time. I wouldn't miss it on any trip, unless for some odd unexpected reason I didn't go to HS. I particularly like the combo--meat loaf, fried chicken, and roast beef. It reminds me of the food my mother made when I was a child and that my wife made when she was alive. I wish I could eat there right now to be honest about it!
