I was wondering what the portion size of the children's meals at Disneyland look like. I was hoping to see pictures if anyone had them. I'm never able to finish my meals at the park since the adult portion size is too big for me. I'm thinking of ordering off of the children's menu when I go next year (yes, I'm already planning :) ). Thanks!

That's a great idea Jennifer! I order off the kids menu quite often for the same reason. My favorite kids meal is the fried chicken meal at Plaza Inn. You get a chicken leg, mashed potatoes an gravy, a biscuit, applesauce AND a drink! And it's under $7.00 too! It's just the right amount of food so you're not completely stuffed....then you have room for a churro or a Dole Whip later on! Sorry, I don't have any pictures to show you but maybe someone else will.

Hi Jennifer :wave2:
The only childs meal I order regularly and know it is a lot of food is at White Water Snacks outside the Grand CA (it is by the pool). I have had the cheeseburger meal many times and it is very satisfying. DD and I also split the breakfast burrito and a side of fresh fruit here in the AM - she is an adult so it is two adults sharing just to give you an idea. Some meals are small and some are fairly large, I hope other posters chime in to give you advice.;)

Planning is half the fun, have a wonderful vacation.

This was the typical pb&j sandwich at Cafe Orleans. Smuckers uncrustables :)

I have not ordered a child's meal, because I didn't realize that adults could do so until a week or so ago, but I'm thinking of it on this upcoming trip.

At both Rancho del Zocalo and Cucina Cucamonga they have a kid's meal of a bean and cheese burrito. I think they come with applesauce and something else, and a drink, and a fun straw. :) The burrito was a very reasonable size if your stomach isn't brainwashed by normal restaurant serving sizes, ha ha. And of course you can always supplement with a snack later on.

The one kid's meal that I can't recommend is the pizza kid's meal at Pizza Oom Mow Mow in DCA. Well, I can't recommend that place AT ALL, but especially not that. The pizza was TINY, like english muffin sized, and horrible. The grownup food there was nasty, too.

On the other hand the kid's pizza at PCH Grill was delicious. And if Rainforest Cafe will allow an adult to order their kid's meals, their cheese pizza was very good as well. (can you tell I always take a bite of DS's food?)

This is a great question. I was wondering if adults could order off the children's menu because as we are planning our trip I have been looking at menus and many of them have age requirements like 3-10. So is this something that they don't abide by.

Whenever I don't feel like eating too much, (or having leftovers) I always get the kids chicken tenders meal at Taste Pilots in DCA. They don't have a problem with you ordering it at all, and no one's ever given me a bat of an eyelash for you either. I doubt they'll make you produce a kid just so you can pay them for food. :lmao: No pictures, but I'm leaving to go to DLR later on, so I'll work on that for you.

A note to those ordering off the kids menu, I just wanted to remind you that couter service and sit-downs will allow you with no problems, but if you happen to want the kids food at a character meal, you'll still be charged the adult price.. :snooty:

I've done this many times when I wasn't that hungry. It's great!

They say there are requirements, but I almost always order a childs grilled chicken with rice and fruit!

Spaghetti with METEOR from pizza place in Tomorrowland-came with spaghetti, bunch of grapes, small bag of baby carrots and a drink and was $7.00 or less.

Mac and cheese meal at Cafe Orleans, came with Mac and Cheese, 1 strawberry and a bunch of grapes. She ate the fruit but took a few bites of the mac and said NASTY. Can't remember the price, was under $10 tho.

Kids pizza meal again at tomorrowland pizza place (always want to call it pizza planet from Toy Story!) which came with a mini pizza, grapes, carrots and a drink (teeny soda, small milk/choco milk or apple juice) and again, was under $7.00).

Of the 3, the spaghetti was good!!! Great price, great taste, filled you up and the METEOR is yummy!! Ate this once on an all alone trip and was perfect! Hope this helps!!

And PS-just for size comparison, here is a pic of the chicken fusillini from "pizza planet". it's HUGE, 2 adults can easily share!!

I always order from the kids menu. I had my stomach banded a few years ago and cannot eat full-sized meals. These still have too much food for me, but at least I'm not wasting as much. The kids meals have great healthy alternatives, i.e. carrots, fruit.

OMG, I never thought of this before. Planned on both my girls sharing, but I will order from the kid menu as well since I don't eat that much either. DH on the other hand, will have to stick to his adult manly size serving, :rotfl: !

I've read on the Dis that you can use some sort of card/note from your doctor to get kid's prices at buffets at Disney parks, when you've had that sort of surgery.

Thanks to everyone who posted pictures! :) The food looks great and the portion size is perfect.

Do you still get the black plastic Mickey plate when you order a childrens meal. We still have ours from last time. My husband thought I was crazy for washing them off and saving them.

Some of them. We have three. They are VERY helpful, especially on DS's picky nights. :)
