Bless my little solider seems to be fighting the illnesses off.

First he had rotavirus, not nice at all

Now he's fighting a battle again, had a cough and was wheezing like had smoked 20 a day then ran a marathon. This continued for the day. So I contacted nhs direct rather than take a valuable appt at drs. In the end I had to go to dr, soon as I walked in he could hear the wheeze. Next stop was hospital to be checked over by paediatrician.

He was checked over and discharged with an inhaler, major struggle to administer it:confused:

I monitored him all of yesterday however he got no help from inhaler at all. Today I took him back to hospital for assessment. They gave him inhaler again and agreed it made no change, then tried another one yet again no help.
He has remained happy still being mischievous.
Sent home with original inhaler!!!!

They believe it's broncholitis. So I have been looking online at this (prob worst thing to do) :thumbsup2

My brain gone into overdrive, I started blaming myself as I moved him onto cows milk last week, and started thinking has he got allergies.

Anyway moan over :thumbsup2

My middle ds was admitted to hospital when he was about 8 months old with bronchiolitis ( think its also called RSV??)

I'm afraid to say he went on to develop full blown asthma but at almost 10 yrs old he has nearly out grown it. Only for my dd to be diagnosed with asthma last week :sad2:

What i found worked good for ds is to take him into the bathroom and run the shower as hot as you could, make sure all windows and fans are off. I would sit him on my knee and look at books or something and the steam really helped him.

Hope he soon recovers and don't blame yourself its not yoru fault

aww poor little mite, hope he makes a speedy recovery, and hugs for you

I see a lot of tis in A&E. Paediatric asthma is getting more and more common. Which inhaler have they given? Is it a brown or blue one? It cant be diagnosed if it is asthma till he is around 5 years old and if bronchiolitis then he will prob grow out of it but will need inhaler especially at times when he gets a cold and cough. There are other meds they can give but normally only if severe and recurrent. If he gets worse at any point donrt hesitate to take him back to the hospital. You may find he coughs and coughs and vomits. I v been through it with my daughter so I know your anguish.Fortunatley she only needs inhaler when she has a cold /cough. Hope this helps.Try not to worry. You havent had a new pet hv you? Remember that the weather is changing as well which effects pollen etc.:thumbsup2

Thanks guys :thumbsup2

He has the blue inhaler 10 puffs when needed.

No pets

Only thing that has changed is introducing cows milk

He's busy snoring now, normally he's very quiet when sleeping :thumbsup2

Don't blame yourself, it isn't your fault:hug:

I can agree with the hot steamy bathroom, this has realy helped my ds in the past.
Also I find that when he is sleeping, he breathes better slightly proped up by pillows....when he was a baby I used to put them under the cot matress...

hope he gets better soon

My friend's daughter had this and I'm sure they gave her a nebuliser. She outgrew it. It's definitely not your fault! Don't blame yourself.

Well he has been much better today, only used inboard twice.

Can you give rough idea how long he is contagious, as he has nursery on Monday :)

My youngest suffered with the same thing, he also used to get croup and the steamy bathroom used to help. He was admitted into hospital on Boxing day when he was a few months old suffering with bronchiolitis. He was given inhalers, brown for prevention, blue for when his breathing was wheezy. He thankfully never had a full asthma attack and did grow out of it by the time he was 7. He used to get so wheezy when he was running that would often be sick and bring up mucus-which used to help his breathing!
It's amazing how with time you forget but we used to have his cot permanently up on a piece of 2 by 2 wood to help.

It's easy to say but try not to worry, fingers crossed he will grow out of it. Hope he feels better very soon :)

Oh bless, how old is he? What was he on before the cows milk?

My last baby had bronchiolitis when he was tiny - a result of having two other small siblings bringing home more germs than his little body could handle. He had an overnight stay in hospital where they gave him some oxygen, but was fine after and is to this day :) He's 6 now.

I hope your little one is much better soon.

My little girl is 10 days younger than your little boy :)

I had similar problems when i was younger which were down to severe allergies. I no longer have any problems at all - apart from the occassional hay fever. :)

There are so many nasty germs and bugs about at the moment and for little babies ts hard to fight it off. I really wouldnt worry about the cows milk!

Hope he gets better soon XX
