Children's ID tags or bracelets?

I've never taken a child to Disney. Do they have some sort of ID bracelet that they put on kids just in case they get separated from their parents?

Nope, that's up to you. Every time we go we say we are going to and every year we do not. I think we put I.D. cards in their pockets one year, I think the CMs check for those. I saw a couple of kids with I.D. tags on their shoe laces this year, that was a great idea since they were those everyday. Some people write their cell phone numbers on their kids arms and carry their cells with them just in case. And lastly you should take a picture of your kids each morning(assuming digital), its a lot easier to show a picture to a CM than to try to remember and describe what each kid was wearing.

Those are great suggestions! I wouldn't have thought of the picture one. I'll definitely do that.

We took our 5 yo triplets with us last year and we made lanyards (sp?) (cards on a strap to hang around their necks) that had our first names and cell phone numbers on them. We never put the kids' names on anything, because we don't want strangers to be able to identify them by name. We gave them instructions that if they ever couldn't find us, go to a Disney person (we showed them the name tags every morning right after entering the parks) and told them to show the Disney person the card. The Disney employees all gave us kudos for the design (especially not having their name on them) saying that kids often panic and forget where the cards are or they lose them out of pockets, etc. Our kids actually liked wearing them because we put Mickey pictures on the back side and laminated them, so they thought they were cool necklaces. Needless to say we will use them again this year....

Just returned here is what we did. My sil put cute heart shaped tags on my neice (2yo) and nephew's shoelaces (4yo). They were actually metal pet tags but they looked really cute. She did them herself at the self serve machine in the Wallmart prior to the trip.

I simply put my business card with my cellphone number highlighted in my dd's pockets every day. They are 9 and 11 and although they do know my cell # by heart I gave the card just in case they should panic.

We also talked alot about how to keep from getting separated and what we would like them to do if we did get separated.

I have laminated a wallet size family photo with my cell phone # on the back and that way the child can say "I'm with these people". I tied the photo to a belt loop but that required changing to the new clothes daily.

On my most recent trip I ordered from whosshoesid.com it is a velcro strip that can attach to the child's shoe. They worked out great and we leave it on while we are at home too. So if my child has a playdate or birthday party I can tell the adult that my phone number is on their shoes if needed.

Thankfully I've never needed it!

I made a couple out of scrapbook paper and a cute mickey shape template. I put their names and our cell phone numbers and the name of our hotel. I laminated it and pinned it to the back of their shirts.

I can't recall the exact URL but they are wonderful. I have my boys wear them everyday at home. I like knowing my address, phone numbers, Pedi's number, and medical issues are right on his laces. They know to tell people my numbber is on his shoe. It makes me feel better when he rides the bus to and from school etc.

I saw lots of them at DW last year when we were there. Just be sure to use waterproof ink b/c of all the puddlejumping kids do!

I had my son wear a lanyard. On the front was a cute Mickey picture. On the back was all his important information. Where we were staying, how long, cell phone numbers for both of us, etc. He wore it the whole trip and a few people commented it was a great idea. Just in case my little one wondered, it was a great peace of mind. I picked up the lanyard at
Target in the dollar bin.

That's what we use (except ours came from http://www.gotags.com/). They're great. The boys don't mind wearing them at all - they know any time we go to Busch Gardens, the State Fair, etc., they're to wear them. I like these better than the shoes ID because they usually wear Tevas and not sneakers to parks.

I don't want to be the wet blanket here... but I have to ask. Is there a more predator-proof ID system? I would tend to think predators would be smart about the highly advertised ID systems and know to look for them.

I just ordered rubber bracelets for my kids from a Rekey Designs. I ended up buying it from them on eBay.

I ended up paying $12.48 total, for the two of them. I put princess crowns on either side of my cell phone number for my DD7 and he found a Mickey head to put on my DS5. (The Mickey head wasn't shown on his website, so I asked...)

He does kids and adult sizes. I thought they'd be fun for the kids' goodie bags on the plane.

My DDs wear dogtags from gotag.com under their shirts (just like I was required to do when I was an Army brat) and they have bracelets from rekeydesigns.com that just have Mom: (cell number} Dad: (cell number). Names are NEVER where someone could just see them (although I understand the new birthday buttons have a name write-in space...NOT a good idea in my book )

YES!! I posted this "find" a month or so ago and just thought I'd report back on how we did with these...

We just returned last Monday from a week at WDW. I ordered two of the silicone bracelets from rekey designs - through ebay. I got one pink and one red (matched most of my daughter's outfits ), toddler size for my almost 3 year old. We had coached her before going that if mommy or daddy got lost to find another mommy or a cast member (pointed them out when we got there), to tell them mommy/daddy were lost, and to show them her bracelet with mommy's cell phone number. We drilled this into her head for about a month before going so that she knew the plan inside and out (we hoped).

I'm happy to say that we never needed the bracelets (I never got lost once! ), but they were GREAT! First of all, they were really cute with her little matching outfits. Secondly, she loved wearing them - we never had an issue with her not wanting to wear them. And lastly, they fit great, never slipped off or were too tight.

I have tucked these away for our next trip, and will buy a couple more before then for DS. Highly recommend.

Oh - and for those wondering....it would be very difficult to read the info on the bracelets unless you were looking closely at them.

Also know that if you forget to bring one of these great ideas for a name tag, you can go to Guest Relations at any of the parks and they can give you a tag with a string on it, that you can write all your info on and loop around your kids belt loop or whatever.

That's what we've done, and if it gets hacked or wet or whatever since it isn't laminated we get a new one the next day. It has Baby Mickey and Baby Minnie on the front, and my son was totally fine with it hanging out in his pocket.

We had a CM tell him if he ever got lost to find a person with a name tag on like they had and show them the card, and they would get a hold of his mommy and daddy and watch over him until he could be reunited. That way it imprinted on him since it came from someone other than just mom and dad what he should do if he got lost. He's been there 6 trips now, and we haven't had to use the lost and found routine yet for him since he has learned to stick close, but just in case! We also have a digital camera with us always so we always have a vacation pic of him on it for ID or to show someone what he looks like if we had to track him down.
