Has anyone ever had their daughter's hair trimmed or cut in the Magic Kingdom barbershop? What did it consist of? We are going in September :cheer2: and we are interested in doing this for our daughter and niece. Thanks.

We had our dd's first haircut there in December. For a first haircut I think it was around $15 and they get a special set of mouse ears that say "First Haircut" and a certificate. Not sure of the other prices but they can get glitter and gel in their hair and it seems to be a popular spot.

Try to go early in the morning. We only had to wait for 2 people in front us.

My 7YO daughter and I did a one day "Dad n Daughter" visit to MK on 7/21 and one of the planned "heat and crowd beater" things we planned and carried out was a trip to the MK barber shop; seems like it was around 2PM or so, and we had only a short wait for a chair. The barber (a lady) did an excellent job and was very thorough. The Barbershop Quartet made a visit, as well, which was nice. Also was a nice, cool place to sit down, while waiting for our FP time to roll around. Price was $14 plus I added a little tip for a good job. Note that your room card is not accepted as payment; they take cash, or you can let Mr. Visa pay for it!

We had DD's first haircut there Dec 04. DD was 4 at the time, so this wasn't just a ceremonial haircut. The barber offered DD a tinkerbell hairdo, which DD loved and didn't take a bath for several days because she didn't want to lose her Tink hair (including pixie dust glitter, little Mickey heads, and a Mickey head paint gel).

We probably had about an hour wait. They run two chairs, but they don't always turn the chairs very fast. DD's cut probably took 20-30 minutes. The barbers are very good with children - not like what I remember in the shop as a kid getting nicked with the razor for not sitting still.

That is too cute! How much was the Tinkerbelle do? :flower:

Its become a tradition for us...we go Disney every August and come back home the day before school starts so its a great place to take care of one of our "back to school" chores.

Plus, the kids love getting the colored hair gel and pixie dust.

I wonder if they will do the hairdo without the cut...I wouldnt want to cut my neices curls and risk them not coming back :(

I'm interested in this too as we have never had DS's hair cut and he just turned 2! We are waiting to do it in the world! He has quite the afro right about now.

When there is a wait do you get one of those pagers or do you just sit there? I REALLY want his first cut to be in Disney but the earliest we could be there is 9:30 or 10. Is that too late?

You just have to wait in the shop. We went on a Sunday & got there about 9:30 - 10am. I waited with the kids & DH got FPs for Phiharmagic; when he got back & saw all the characters just outside city hall, he took the kids and was able to get pics with Robin Hood & Little John. It was actually our turn and they were next in line for Robin Hood; I let another family go in front of me; then when my 2 showed up the other family said my kids could go before their 2nd DS. There are a few chairs just inside where you can sit & wait.

I think it was the same price as the regular cut. The barber just asked/chose that as the final style.

All told I think we paid $20 - $25 (base haircut was around $15, maybe $2-$3 extra for the colored gel, and tip).

We went this past June for the first time. It was after a huge rainstorm and the park had cleared out. There wasonly one person ahead of us at that time so it turned out to be the perefect time. She cut about 5 inches off and then picxie dusted my DD. She loved it and saved the mickey head confetti.

OK I have no idea why those pics turned out so huge.Sorry.

ooh this looks perfect!!!!
My daughter was saying that she wanted a Libby Lu hairdo for the first day of school (which is the day after we leave WDW). It's a surprise trip so she doesn't know WHY "Mom doesn't have time" to take her to the mall for the Libby Lu "do" that Sunday. Maybe since I upgraded to park hoppers we'll have to make a lil trip over to MK that day get her hair done. Does anyone know how well the tinkerbell kind of hair do (or really any Disney Barbershop "do") holds up for sleeping? Is it something that would stay nice a few days or should I do it last thing on our trip as like a souvenir?

My kids just had this done on Sunday, August 7th. We walked into the barbershop just as it started pouring and there was no wait. I don't remember the names, but dd had a lady (pictured 2nd in this thread) and dd had the man pictured in this thread. We saw a couple other kids the day before with the same gel and pixie dust. The pixie dust was not shaped like mickey though, like I see in these pics. It was just regular sparkly confetti. (Sorry, just got home late last night, no pics yet!) DS had the mickey on his head, and dd's hair was in two ponytails so that she could have the mickey as well. The haircuts were $14 each including the gel, plus tip. It looked really cool, but by Monday night, dd was ready to wash hers out as it was annoying having her hair up for two days.

Oh, and the next day we saw what looked to be a man and his teenage son come out with full blown mohawks full of pixie dust! It looked really cool- the sides were completely shaved and the hair in the middle was sticking straight up a good 6 inches.

I think I may take my 14 year old there. He needs a hair cut and by Sept. he will REALLY need one. I think it would be cute and he would love the gel!

I am sure my DDs will love this in Dec, but it looks like the Barber Shop may need to give out FP so you can run around the park and not waist some of your day sitting in the barbershop.

We had DS's first haircut there right before he was 2 and it was a wonderful experience. We got there about 30 minutes after opening and we had about a 30 minute wait. However, the lady was very nice with DS and he really enjoyed it. Since DS had his first haircut there I want to get DD's on our next trip. I don't really want to cut off much of her hair but maybe just a few little snips to even it out. :)
