Children's Dinner Question

We are in the early planning stages for Viva Italia. I saw on the itinerary that there is a night with separate adult's and children's dinners. The problem for us is that one of our children would be considered and adult and the other would not. Do we have the option of taking the younger one to dinner with us. We are looking at going a week before his 10th birthday. Thanks!

On our ABD, all of the kids, even the 19 year olds, went to the kids dinner. By the time the kids dinner rolls around, your kids should have made friends with the other kids on the trip. The kids dinner is more like a party. It is not "childish". The adult dinner is a dinner party.

Thank you! My older son will be 15, so he would much rather be with other teens than at a dinner party. I was afraid it was going to be really young children. That sounds like fun!

...have to agree with Abdmom, one of our trips there was some 17 and 18 yr. olds and they had a great time with the "kids" party even helping the councilor,helping with the organizing and the younger kids look up to the older ones as big cousins. It is amazing how the group comes together as one big family. Enjoy

I'll weigh in here too...on our ABD trip two 15 yo girls had as much or more fun than the younger ones! But- they are not required to " go". In our own case, my two kids had had a very bad experience with a children's program on a Princess ship in AK ( the program promised to work on a JR Ranger patch with a NP ranger while watching glaciers calve, it turned into playing video games in an interior room...they were furious, and this was pre beepers- they had no way to ask us to get out!)
Anyway, my kids went into our first ABD at 10 and 12 refusing to have anything to do with any " kids" night, activity, dinner...ever! We were assured they didnt have to participate, they could stay with us. That lasted till about after the first day, they fell in love with the adventure guides, had a ball with the other kids and ended up participating in everything! We are doing ABD in Aug and the "kids" will be 15 and 17 and I would imagine there is a good chance they would do the dinner, if they find a pal or two the same age there! The adventure guides do a really good job of not condescending to the older kids, and make them feel welcome by not " over doing " it, if you know what I mean!!

It depends that how old is the child and the elder one.
