Childrens Dining Question

I realize that as long as there is a child menu they must order off of that. However do children also get an appetizer with the meal plan? If so what about restaurants that don't offer child selections? We are eating at Le Cellier our second night and looking at the menus they do not have choices for children apps. Anyone know?

Also does anyone know if at Ohana if the non alcoholic drinks are part of the meal plan?

When we were there in May we were never forced to have our children eat of the childrens menu, except at Flame tree in AK. Everywhere else we ate they could order whatever they wanted. We ate at O'hana and I think we could have any non-alcoholic drink we wanted.

Hope this helps.......

This was a topic on another thread not to long ago....and quite a few people were saying NO....if there were no appitizers on the kids menu...they didn't get one. BUT....myself I didn't like that answer....after all the Dinning Plan clearly states EACH TS credit gets 1 appitizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 beverage....So I called Disney dinning and asked them myself.

I was told...if the kids menu didn't have an appitizer....there would be things on the regular menu for the kids to order. However the CM I talked with did say most of the TS places.....did have SOMETHING for the kids to order. She (the CM) was also telling me from personal experence....she had just taken her kids to eat on the dinning plan the weekend before..She said the waitress first asked who was on the plan...if anyone. Then proceeded to show the kids what they could order for an appitizer off the regular menu.

But from the sounds of it...all the dinning places are diffrent..and not all go by this. Myself I'm planning on bringing my Disney Dinning broucher...that states what EACH TS gets...just incase we run into any issues. It's not that I don't think the entree's will be enough food...it's just were planning on splitting meals to stretch our credits...so I think we will need the kids appitizers. But that's really not the point anyways.

We ate at Le Cellier 3 weeks ago. Our DD (9) was able to order an appetizer off the adult menu. Hope this helps. Have a great trip. :sunny:

Thanks it does help

What brochure are you referring to? I don't think I got that and would also like to have it with me just in case. I agree that it will be plenty of food, but we are also planning to split some meals and it is supposed to be included.

Has anyone else split the meals in the sit down places? What was the reaction of the wait staff? Do they not care? I realize you cannot split a buffet or the skillet at WC but what about places like Le Cellier, Tonys Town Square and such?

I too am curious about the reaction to splitting the meals. It just seems like there will be so much food. My friend and I went out this weekend and keeping this meal plan in mind I was really paying attention to quantities of food. We split an appetizer, ordered our own entree, and split dessert and were both so full that we took food home. If the portions at Disney are anywhere near similar to Chili's, Applebees, etc. there's no way I'm going to want to walk around the park after all that food.

So if anyone has any experience with splitting please post.

I'm not sure why you would split your meals to save credits. We have a tough enough time using them all.

Hope this helps. The dining plan is a :cool1: BARGAIN

I don't think of it as saving credits, though it would be nice to have a sit down lunch and use the counter service for breakfast items. It is more about there being so much food wasted and us feeling full and sick, kwim?

I was thinking the same way you are - that is was WAY too much. But for the most part the appetizer and dessert servings are small. The appetizers are mostly sized for one - not a table to share like in most restaurants. Some of the desserts seemed small, others were sized like any typical restaurant.

And for us...splitting isn't so much for saving credits also...but by doing so were able to have a TS meal four-five times..durring our 3 night stay...where if we didn't split meals we'd only get 3. So by doing this we are able to have a nice meal the night we arrive...each day were there and the day we head off. Plus one day we have PS at CP for breakfast...then PS for dinner at the castle....so that's two TS credit in one day...and were still getting a nice TS/sit down meal every other day were there. I am concerend about...with splitting TS meals and having so many we may not use all of our CS meals...but I really think the biggest value in the meal plan is in the TS credits anyways....and this way we'll be able to eat a little here and there all day long (every day)

We used the dining plan in Sept, and we did split some meals at San Angel & Kona. They do not have a problem with this, because they are your credits and you can use them like you want. Also, there is no rule saying you can not share your food with anyone (well except for buffets of course). So I hope this helps, and it is way to much food. I mean two appt, two entrees & two desserts. We did save our TS credits, and it does help because we could eat two TS per day. I did not care to much about the CS.
