My son is off to swim in Genenva this Thursday, and at 17 this does not affect him, but do the younger swimmers (around 13/14yrs) parents need to write a letter giving permission for the chief coach to take them. I know that I have read here on the dis about family members needing letters of permission for nieces/grandchildren etc.

You need to check with the airline they are flying with what their policy is.

I think they may be a need for some sort of documentation. I know when my lads have been away on trips I have had to fill in a loco parentis form which effectively gives parental rights to the group leaders for the duration of the trip to allow them to sign for emergency treatment, etc. I would have thought that it also indicates that the parent has allowed their child to travel with the named persons.

Thanks for that I am gonna contact the group leader tomorrow - as I completed some forms months ago, but can't remember what they were, they were emailed to me and I religiously keep copies of everything but don't seem to be able to find it, so will ask what we completed and for copies to be sent to me.
