My DS, who will be 20 months old at the time of our visit, has an allergy to egg whites. Does anyone know if the croissants and cookies served at WDW have eggs in them? TIA!!

Croissants don't traditionally have eggs in them, but there may be cross-contamination issues or they could even do an egg wash to make them glossier looking. The regular cookies have eggs, but some places sell Divvies chocolate chip cookies, which are egg-free. We've found them at the MK bakery and the resort gift shops. My kids have been served Divvies at the buffets, because none of the desserts were safe for their allergies. It's best to contact specialdiets@disneyworld.com regarding allergy info. They'll email you a list of common foods with ingredient info. They'll also email you a form to fill out if you have any ADRs, so the chefs can be made aware of the allergy. You never know what ingredients might be hidden in foods. At each restaurant, a chef will come to your table and let you know what's safe. At CS restaurants, there's an ingredient binder to double-check if the food is o.k. Just ask the ordering CM for it.

I would expect them to have eggs. DGS 3 has an egg and peanut allergy and we have found eggs "hide" in so many places. While his peanut allergy is so much more dangerous, it is easier to deal with. DS is allergic to both egg whites and yokes but when they are slowed cooked in baked goods he is ok with them. Our biggest reaction since his diagnosis was in one of those candy cake toppers that I somehow missed seeing eggs listed on!:confused3.

Also we have to be very careful with salad dressings as almost all have egg whites in them. DGS loves dressing with salad so we try to carry the packs of fat free ranch that do not have eggs. We have also learned that for his egg allergy that benedryl has saved us a few times. We always have a epi-pen too but so far we have been lucky.

Not really much help at all with your question but just know you are not alone!!!!

I am allergic to eggs and peanuts as well. I can't eat anything that has eggs in it (yolks or whites) even if it has been cooked.

The croissants themselves don't usually have eggs in them but a lot of times egg white wash will be put on top to make them shine (why...i have no idea...kind of stupid...JMO)

How severe is his allergy? My guess is that there is a cross contamination issue but if he is not that allergic to it, they are probably safe for him IF they do not have the wash on top.

The cookies---Divvies are a great option.
The regular cookies at the bakeries, etc all have eggs.
There are some types of packaged cookies (at goofys, main street confectionary, gift shops, etc) that do not have eggs in them but again, if he is severely allergic, check cross contamination warnings

He is not severely allergic, thank goodness. He breaks out in a rash, has a tummy ache, etc. (and screams!!) I emailed them about his allergy a couple of months ago, but I never even got a response. I heard that you can call them within 2 weeks of your trip, so I think I will wait 2 more weeks and call and speak with someone about it. He is very picky, and he will sometimes eat chicken nuggets. I heard that Disney's chicken nuggets have eggs. Do they have any egg free ones (like Tyson) that they have stashed away for people with allergies? Oh, and do any of the counter service restaurants have Van's waffles? He likes those. Thanks!

There is contact information besides the email address that a previous poster mentioned in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature.

Even on the day you are eating, if you are eating at a full service restaurant or a buffet, you can ask to talk to the chef to find out safe options.
The counter service restaurants have an ingredient book that you can request to look at. The counter CMs may not be able to help much, but the managers will be.

My DD also has egg, peanut, and tree nut allergies. We enjoyed Divvies throughout our vacation. We got them at almost every restaurant. If DD didn't eat them, I kept them in my purse for easy use later on.

I can't remember about the chicken nuggets. You will need to talk to the lead at the restaurants to find out about ingredients.

At most breakfast places, we ended up having their standard gluten free, egg free, peanut free, etc. free waffles. They didn't have an simple egg free alternative. Instead, they seemed to have one meal that serves all major allergies. I didn't like their taste, but DD didn't mind.

Be aware that we waited a long time (longer other patrons) at table service meals because the chefs had to come talk to us, then make DD's meal from start to finish. It was worth it for her to be safe, but for a 20 month old, that might be tough.

I would call sooner rather than later to be sure you talk to the necessary people.

Have a great trip!
