We arrive in the world on sep 23rd but our DS turns 3 the day after, would we need to purchase a pass for him or not ?

I should know the answer to this really :rotfl2:

Yes, a 3 year old needs to have a valid ticket in order to enter the parks :)

I am sure there is something about if the child turns 3 midtrip they don't need a ticket. I can't find a link to this information and I'm not sure what the details are offhand.

I will try and look into it for you as DS turns 3 during our next trip and I'll need to know too!

I believe you will need to buy a ticket but if you are unsure call Disney Guest Relations on 02082223333

I stand corrected - this is a quote from www.affordabledisney.com

"If your child has a birthday while you're at WDW and turns 3 or 10, you are NOT charged for the more expensive admission. You get to be whatever age you are when you arrive for the whole stay. So your child is free. I've never known Disney to ask for ID for a child. If you're worried, bring a birth certificate."

However, as a PP has said, it is always advisable to check with Disney if unsure.
