Child turning 3 during trip

We are planning a Spring trip to WDW and my son's 3rd birthday will be in the middle of our stay. I *think* I read here that if a child starts the trip at 2 and then turns 3, he does not need a ticket for the remainder of the trip. Is this correct? I don't want to assume anything and not do the right thing. If that is true, what about for the meals? I assume that might be different, get the free buffets, etc. while he is 2 and then pay once he is 3? Anyone who has experienced this, please chime in...

I *believe* that the child's age for the current trip, is the age at the START of the trip.

Meaning if you are going for birthday number 3, but at the start of the trip your child is still 2, your child is considered 2 for the entire trip.

Yes, if he is 2 when the trip starts, he is considered 2 the whole trip. If you are paying for meals as you go, you will be expected to pay for buffets and all the day he turns 3 (my daugher turned 3 mid trip and we went to the Crystal Palace for dinner and she would have had to pay but she didn't eat a single bite besides a piece of bread so they didn't make us pay).

Unless you're on dining plan, I believe. Our DD turned 3 on our last trip and we told the CMs that on her birthday. She didn't have to pay anything because the CM said it's their age at the start of the trip on the package deal.
