Child ticket for 10 year old

May I just take the time to apologise for posting this thread on the Community Board and not the Debate Board.
But if anyone with the powers that be wants to move this thread, then feel free.

The question was simply to find out what percentage of people would turn a blind eye to the rules if they thought they were being hard done to.
Personally,I would like too see a charge made on peoples size and their ability to enjoy the rides.
If a Little Person was visiting WDW,would he not still have to pay adult price even though he/she may be denied rides due to the height restrictions.

But seeing as I am being labelled a liar, thief and a cheat, lets go for it.

Mickeyfan,as a shareholder you will have obviously heard of the Pooh Sisters. They are the 2 sisters who have the marketing rights to anything Pooh Bear. Those rights were originally handed to their father by A.A.Milne,and were then passed to the 2 daughters.
Now,isnt there a long standing feud dragging through the courts as the Pooh Sisters claim Disney has ripped them off for millions of Dollars.

And isnt it well documented that EPCOT was supposed to be a REAL city with REAL people living there.
But isnt it a known fact that those plans were only submitted so as to gain permission to build in the first place, and that a REAL city was never intended.
Eh',a bit of dodgy dealing there then.

The latest let down by Disney has got to be the film,Peter Pan.
As a shareholder you should know that Walt Disney always allocated a percentage of monies made from anything Peter Pan, to [I think] the Great Ormond St Childrens Hospital here in London.
But because Disney pulled out of the production right at the last minute, leaving it to Universal to take over, then that hospital and its sick children have been denied badly needed funds.

By the way, does the Universal takeover now mean that Peter Pan is no longer Disney?.
Is Tinkerbell now out of a job?

And what about trading within the US itself.

On my first ever trip to the States, not only was I amazed, but also dissapointed to find that all Disney merchandise was made in ......CHINA.
There was I,hoping to buy "Original US made Disney merchandise" only to find its made in China.

All along,Disney is promoted as being "The happiest place on Earth",yet it has a policy to produce its money making merchandise outside of the USA,by a communist run country, with one of the worst human rights records on this planet.

And am I right in saying that no one ever dies in Disney, and that if someone did die ,then their death is not recorded until that person is off Disney property.........if thats the case ,then we are even denied the right to pass away in the happiest place on Earth.

The above certainly puts a different light on things doesnt it.

So,the next question is, Am I ripping off Disney, or are they ripping me off?

Sorry to have to rant ,but when some folk answer a thread in such an aggressive manner and make out they have the same moral standards as a Saint,......after all,the question wasn't asked in an aggressive way and at least I am honest.

Dont get me wrong, myself and my family love Florida and WDW and wouldnt go anywhere else in the world, but we dont live our lives looking through rose tinted glasses.

By the way, with regards locking this thread.Would'nt that be denying me my right to free speech...............you know,"Welcome to America, land of free enterprise.............and free speech". and all that.

1 more comment about the age thing. At age nine our kids are not even out of primary school....so maybe the age should be changed.

Yeah, Stu, it does put a different light on things. My question to you is if you have such a god-awful time dealing with The Disney Comapny in specific and the United States in general, why in the world would you bother to both come here to my country and to make a half-assed attempt at faking enjoyment at a theme park that you publically have said is so terrible and feel so mistreated amd maligned by? And if you are trying to have a good time at Disney, without at least a tint of rose on those glasses, you are definitely going to miss the Magic, as I think you clearly have.

As I said, maybe stay home and pretend you are in the UK at Epcot, afterall, yours is the original, we only have fake over here. And on top of it, we do need rose colored glasses for us to pretend we are in the UK at Epcot, and you don't wear those kind.

And peanut, your age rules there for school have nothing to do to impact the age guidelines for a theme park half way around the world, which, if it was missed somewhere along the line, is a for-profit business.

Its theft of services, plain and simple. If you don't agree with the policy, don't go. To try a rationalize your decision because, "my kids small for their age, I have traveled far, IMHO they are overpriced" is a bunch of bull. Is Disney expensive...yes...if its too expensive for you to pay Disney's admission fee. Find other entertainment.

.

Dan, which part of my original question and my reasoning behind it dont you understand?

You are obviously an expert at twisting other peoples comments in a bid to make a situation something that suits you and your own feelings.

Where does any of my posts state that I have a God awful time with Disney and America.
Believe me, if I had a major problem with the above then the States is the last place I would take my vacation.

Also, where have I publically stated that the parks are so terrible that I have to fake enjoyment.
Those are your words,not mine.

As I have already said,I wouldnt want to take my vacation any where else.

I posted the other comments in response to the "We are so morally perfect" attitude and aggresiveness of some of the posters.
Those little snippets of information were highlighted on a documentary called "Outragous Fortunes" that was shown here in the UK a few weeks ago,and if you took any notice, they were aimed at the shareholder with the high morals

You know the saying " If you can't take it ,don't dish it"

You are obviously one of the minority that walks round with your head in the clouds, with real life situations obviously taken away with the blinkers on your eyes.

Lets get something right here, why is it that any subject that doesnt come up to the standards of the morals of a saint is immediately attacked by the likes of yourself, especially here on the Dis.

It seems to me Dan, that you and a small minority of people on your side of the pond, seem to be very paraniod.
Why is it that you think the whole world is against anything American?

I really dont get it,some folk really do need to lighten up.Im sure you will agree...............life's too short.

Not necessarily - You know what? Disney is actually pretty liberal on this policy and one of the last amusement parks where you can get away with lying about your kids' ages. Most parks now base ticket prices on height - typically 48" which btw, makes my 8 year old a full-paying customer.

My prediction is that Disney will be - and should be - right behind everyone else in implementing this policy.

If the person is tall enough to ride most all of the rides, they should pay full price. Whether they do or not is beside the point. That's why those old-fashioned parks that still take tickets but have free admission are so great.

I agree with you it should be ticket prices based on height, we have that over here and nobody hassles about that.

STU W - here here:bounce:

The old fashion fair ground method would be great - no entrance fee and you only pay for the rides you want to go on (although height restrictions might apply, but that'll be a safety issue and has to be stuck to of course). This is normally a fixed price regardless of age, you pay and ride or don't pay and don't ride.

Things have moved on, mainly now due to the huge numbers of people turning up to the parks. Charging a fixed amount on entry to the park is very much easier to administer and staff manning the rides do not have to handle money - letting them concentrate purely on the loading, unloading and safety of the ride.

Alright, just a quick post...

No comment on the age thing, people will do what they want, and we all have our faults, no need to incriminate one person!

The ticket per ride idea is definitely NOT Disney! My parents go a few times a year, as do I, but they do not go on most of the rides. They still find it valuable to go spend the money and go into the parks for even just a few hours a day. The entertainment that you find there is phenomenal! I would hate to see performers, parades, bands, etc. let go because people decided the only wanted to pay for the rides. By paying that entry fee, no matter which age you pay for, you are paying for an experience in which you are allowed to think innocently and enjoy yourself. Why do you think everybody's face lights up as they walk through those gates? Because they realize that although they just paid a grip of cash, they now get to experience what it is like to be a kid and worry-free again. Please consider this when you think you do not get the maximum for your dollar at Disney, no matter how many dollars you are spending... And enjoy the fireworks at the end of it... :flower3:

The average 10 year old is big enough to ride most, if not all, of the rides, therefore taking up the same space that an adult would fit in, hence the ticket prices. Please don't blather on about midgets, dwraves, ultra-petite children, preemies who never caught up etc. I said the "average" 10 year old, not the 10 year old with special circumstances.

As to the OP, set whatever kind of example you want to for your children. Just don't be surprised when your "example" comes back to bite you on the butt!;)
