child swap question

My family DH DD 4 and 8 are going for two days at the beginning of may. My DH and I would like to ride some of the big coasters but my DDs won't want to. How does the child swap work please? Thank you

From the official website:

If your kids are too small or unwilling to go on a particular ride you want to experience, please take advantage of our "child swap" program. Each ride and attraction has a child swap area where one member of your party can wait with the little ones while the rest of your party rides. Once they are off the ride, swap places and whoever rode can stay with the kids while the adult(s) who sat out get the opportunity to enjoy the ride.

You let the TM at each ride entrance know that you are child swapping and then you let the attendant know before you enter the loading area.There are child swap rooms located near the boarding area where they show movies or cartoons themed to the ride..At Harry Potter they show HP movies in the swap area

I've never seen child swap rooms/areas and have done the swap many times. Is this a new feature or only at Universal?

It's been a while since I've needed a baby swap, but yes, I think only Universal had rooms with chairs or benches where you could wait.

Child swap at WDW and Universal are very different. At Universal, you all go through the queue together and once you get to the loading section of the ride, the non-riders go and sit in a room where there are chairs and a tv, and the rider loads onto the ride. Once the rider gets off the ride they will switch with the person sitting in the swap room and the person who sat the first time gets to go and ride. Since the child swap room is right at the load/unload platform, the exchange is very quick.

At WDW, you tell the CM at the beginning of the queue that you want to do rider swap and they will give you a pass that allows the non-rider parent to use the fastpass line once the original rider is done. What the non-rider family does while they wait is done outside of the ride. The family does not stay together during the wait in line but will go their separate ways and will meet up again once the rider gets off the ride. There is no special waiting area just for child swap at WDW.

The pass at Disney (did last time I was there) allowed the non-rider plus 3 additional riders, even if they've already ridden, to come back and ride. Is it still this way now? Does Universal allow this or is it strictly for those that have not ridden?

Universal does that too. I don't know if Disney still does it.

I have a different question. I am a chicken, I don't do the big coasters. I am assuming most coasters are 2 seaters. Is a rider swap possible for DH to ride once with one child and then again with another child,while I sit with DS2? I know they both will want to sit with Dad.
I am thinking we'll get Express, possibly Unlimited, even though the price is If no rider switch, it may get complicated if we get reg Express, hence the reason I am thinking we may have to get Unlimited, or I may have to ride with my eyes shut!!

Most of the coasters are 4 seaters but yes, you can do as you have outlined.
