Child swap question?

Can someone explain how this works? I think I read that it is for young children and those under the height requirement, but wondering if it would work for this....

We will be there in July and am travelling with another family so a total of 4 kids. They all meet the height requirements (ages 11-9) but the youngest does not really enjoy the bigger rides and roller coasters. All the parents want to ride as well. Could we all line up including the one youngest that doesn't want to ride and then when it is our turn, everyone but one adult and the child ride. The one adult and child wait until the rest of us finish and then hand off the child to the group that is exiting and than the single adult ride alone?

Just trying to figure out how we can all ride without having to do July line-ups twice per ride for everyone to ride that wants to.

That should work. I would just check in with the first CM that you encounter when you queue. This seems to be a frequent request and it has worked for us in the past. Sometimes they just give you a pass which is essentially a fast pass that you can use at a later time - that usually works for attractions that wouldn't have a way for you to pass the child from the entering adult to the exiting adult.

We'll be doing quite a bit of this ourselved in August!

Would the family feel comfortable with the 9 year waiting by themself during the few minutes of the ride? Everyone could walk through the line together and then at loading tell CM they don't want to ride and maybe they could wait by the unloading area? I've done this with a 10 year old at Disneyland and it worked just fine...at TOT they let him wear the CM's hat and he got to play the part when the doors opened...it was cute and he had a blast. On California Screaming, they let him walk through the coaster and just wait at where the exit area started. My experience with baby swap is that they give you a pass and you reenter the line with Fastpass people - so it could add another 10-20 minutes to your touring time when you add the additional fastpass time and the ride time together. After re-reading your post, it sounds like you are asking if the waiting adult gets an immediate reload once the others come off? I don't know about that since I've never done it that way.

Just a thought so you don't have to backtrack and loose precious touring time. Another thought - if you do use the baby swap, you can use it in conjuction with fastpass.

Each attraction works differently. Most of the headliners should be able to accommodate you in general, but it can be a complex dance and requires the CMs to be in tune.

Ask the CMs what is possible, and they will (usually) work with you to get it done.

Usually, the Rider Switch is used on attractions that have a height requirement and FastPass option. It was created, so parents with little ones didn't have to miss out on the fun and ride alone. However, this is listed on the WDW website for non-height requirements and non-FP rides too ...

So, like mentioned ... See a Cast Member. With an older child, it would honestly depend on the CM you encounter. If you run across the CMs NOT being helpful ... I would get FPs for everyone and use the non-riding childs for another rider to ride with you. Also, that way you are not embarrassing the child. Just an idea.

I agree...The purpose of the swap is for children too short to ride.Some Cms are sympathetic to the Fear Factor and will allow the swap, others will not.

They should let the child tall enough to ride/too scared to ride into the queue and out the 'chicken exit'. You could even go in the queue in two separate groups, with one a few minutes ahead of the other, so that the child can go in the later group and meet up with the earlier group after they exit.
