Child Intercom (baby Listener)?

I am aware that Walkie Talkies from the UK are illegal in the US as they operate on a different frequency but does anybody know the score with baby listeners as we would like to take ours with us when we go.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but it reminded me of something we did on a previous trip. We bought baby monitors before leaving, then left one on inside our house in an inconspicuous place, and gave the other to a trusted next door neighbor. They were able to listen to anything going on inside the house while we were gone. They would have heard the smoke alarm if it sounded, they would have heard a break in, and they knew when the pet sitter came to visit the cats. It helped us feel a lot less anxious about being gone for an entire week.
