Just thought I'd throw this website/idea out there to everyone with kids, but there is a website (I found it via the www.Allearsnet.com website), that sells ID tags that go on your shoes! This is a great idea I think and I really wish that more parents did this.
For instance: I used to work for the local shopping mall in high school and I spent half my time locating lost children. One child we located had been hurt from a nasty fall down an escalator, they were unconcious, and we had no idea who they were. There parents were not in sight, and when the paramedics came they had no idea about allergies the child could have to medications. (The child was okay btw, they just knocked themselves out apparently, but scared the heck out of all of us and their parents.) But had the child had an ID tag things would have been a LOT easier on the medical staff, and we would have been able to page the child's parents specifically to assuage their worries. (They were worried btw, the child said someone had grabbed them and they struggled, which was how they fell in the first place apparently.)
Now that was in a suburban area with an extremely low crime rate. It's scary to think about, and I know everyone does their best to watch their kids, but lets face it, there are some sick people out there, and to quote the Incredibles, "Life favors the prepared darling."
Basically make your own IDs or get them from a site like this one: http://www.whosshoesid.com/ because if they are kidnapped the last thing a kidnapper will have time to do, is to inspect your childs shoes. If your kids get hurt, knocked unconcious, etc. then medical personnel who may find them before you do can know exactly what not to give them in order to avoid things like the dreaded penicillin reactions.
Just thought I'd throw that out there! It may be Disney but it's best to be safe ya know?
Hope it helps!
