It's my first time making this.... Can I mix it up with the grapes in it the night before or should I put the grapes in it in the morning? I am bringing it to lunch for a work party.

Thanks!

Grapes are high water content. If you are cutting them in half, it could make the salad watery sitting that long.

I put them in when I make the salad it's fine.

Why would you put grapes in Chicken Salad?

:lovestrucI love chicken salad. I love it cold; I love it hot; I love it traditional (celery, onion, mayo); I love it with curry powder; I love it with sour cream; I love it with fruit mixed in (apples, grapes, apricots, pineapple, etc-- fresh or dried) I love it with pecans added.

There must be hundreds of ways to make chicken salad and I love them ALL:lovestruc

I love all kinds of chicken salad too and I make the grape recipe fairly often. I would wait until tomorrow to put the grapes in. Enjoy!! It's one of my all time favorites!

I don't suppose someone could post their recipe (the one with grapes) for me? I've been looking for a good recipe..thanks!

I won't eat chicken salad WITHOUT grapes or nuts... they are both a must have for my chicken salad!! Sometimes I'll sub. apples or dried cranberries, but grapes are the best!

That's what I was wondering...stop doing that:rotfl:;)

LOL

I usually put egg, mayo, and sweet relish in mine, but my favorite sandwich shoppes use celery & mayo, but not sure what else. Fruit has no place in Chicken Salad.

Someone brought lunch to our office one time and the Chicken salad has apple and nuts in it, NEVER AGAIN, just not right.

The recipe that I was given was to use 1 large can of chicken all white , drain off extra water, add hellman's reduced fat mayonaise, add small peices of cut celery, add a pinch of old bays seasoning mix, few drops of lemon, cut seedless grapes i use purple ones, a few crumbled walnuts. you can use real chicken if you have leftover rottiserrie chicken or want to take the time to boil up some chicken breasts. shred them and use a bit more mayo to make it moist.

it's also great with sliced almonds, mandarin oranges and water chestnuts. use mayo, old bays season, little lemon.

a good combo is raisins, green apples, walnuts. use mayo, old bays season, little lemon.

I take grilled chicken and chop it up adding a TON of grapes and nuts ... for the dressing, I whisk together, mayo, rice wine vinegar, tarragon, salt, pepper and 2-3 pinches of sugar. Pour this over everything as toss....BEST EVER....

Fresh blueberries are also wonderful in chicken salad!

Mmmm.... and craisins too!

Whenever I make chicken salad, it comes out very different. I just use whatever I have in the fridge at the time.

I think my favorite so far has been halved grape tomatoes and green olives, mayo and spices.... yum! :)

Okay, some of you have been holding out on us. Hand over more recipes, please. :teeth:

Do any of you use a dressing other than mayo? Or other spices? I get so tired of chicken salad with mayo, but other that making it curried or dilled, I don't know how else to add some punch to chicken salad. It's just same old, same old. :p

I use a little mayo, a little ranch dressing, fresh lemon juice.. just one and usually not the whole lemon. Green onion, celery , celery seed, pecans and a little garlic powder.

I havent made it with grapes, but have had it. Yummy.

We like ours with finely chopped apples, celery, sweet pickle relish, mayo AND chopped pineapple.
