Anyone else have an issue like this right before you were about to leave??? Please tell me it all worked out!
Also, I did a bit of research on it before I decided to not get them vaccinated and read that it is better for kids to get them when they are young rather than getting shingles when they are older.

They were supposed to leave for DL in 2 days but they canceled in case she came down with it. She never did, and she never let me forget.

) It seems as though with kids it should only take about 7-10 for incubation. It does seem that the cases in our school are quite mild and are moving along quickly- not spreading from kid to kid but aren't lasting long with the infected childThey weren't too happy with me! But as all of us parents know, the pool is a breeding ground for, well, just about everything!!
All still seems to be well with mine, fingers are still crossed!!
My boys, almost 18 now, had the vaccine when it first came out. It went around their school when they were in kindergarten and one caught it and the other never did. His case was mild and not too bad.
I will never foget when I came down with chicken pox in 2nd grade. I started feeling sick while at my best friend's house. I just laid down on their entry way.
My parents and inlaws both had the shingles vaccine so it is out there. Their insurance must have covered it because I never heard them say anything about the cost.

Glad to hear that you have survived to 18!!! Somedays I'm not sure that I will!
Yes, I thought this was true... And I also heard that you are actually contagious PRIOR to actually getting the spots -- can anyone verify??
The kids in our school have been getting it within 7-10 days from exposure so I am only assumeing that it would hit my kids just as fast...then once you have the pox, they are contagious when they are still blisters that are oozing Usually that transfer goes on just in the family with touching the same things etc. 
that we don't get them and our trip can go as planned. We are going to give it another week (by next Wed.) and if he doesn't have it than I am pretty sure we are good to go. If he does have it we will have to look at postponing the trip but at quite a loss on money if that is the case
We don't know if my Husband ever had Chicken Pox as his parents died young. My Son had a light case, so I hope he is immune, as he is on leave from the Army. He has training to do this next week and can not afford to come down with Chicken Pox. 
I had them when I was 5. I had a terrible case of Chicken Pox. I had them in my hair up my nose, inside my eyelids, ears.... and fifty, yes I said fifty years later I have scars, as well.
But, what really got my attention about this thread was, I just returned from a trip to San Francisco. We went on the Alcatraz Tour. And low and behold the little girl in line ahead of us was covered in pox! Her little face was flush with fever. How could her parents do that to her and expose eveyone else???
One lady asked once if her daughter could rub my son's arm because she was hoping she would catch it. Uh sorry lady, it's heat rash and totally not contagious!
