Tikiman posted that a marinated chicken has replaced the pork now at 'Ohana.

Not sure if this had been discussed.

I know many one this board will be happy, but honestly, I thought the chicken was terrible. Dry, overcooked and rubbery. The pork wasn't my favorite but I think it was better than the chicken. Ah, well, they tweak the menu at Ohana often, so I guess we will just go with the flow.

Great move in my book. Love chicken. I always felt the pork could get dried out. I also read it is a marinated chicken thigh they have replaced it with. Which will help with the drying out because chicken thighs seem to retain moisture because it is a dark meat and more fatty compared to chicken breast and the pork that was previously used and would tend to get dried out quickly if overlooked.

Chicken thighs are also a lot cheaper! Coincidence? Sorry but I just had to be a little bit snarky, this weather we are having in NY is doing things to my mind.

You know Sanaa has done an amazing thing with chicken thighs called butter chicken. Sorry I just had to be a little snarky after your comment, it had nothing to do with the weather. I thought you might find that funny considering your humor!

how do you skewer chicken thighs? Bone in? Doesn't bother me much but I am acquainted with some persons who will not eat chicken on the bone.

thighs? I was excited to hear chicken, but was hoping for the white meat back.
Not a fan of dark meat, but might give it a try once........better than no chicken at all

Uh oh, looks like my ADR's may need some re-working

So what is the menu at Ohana?

Ohana serves..

Ohana welcome bread
Honey coriander chicken wings
Lettuce wraps (I've read that these are going away since chicken and salad are supposedly coming back?)
Pork fried dumplings (amazing!)
Teriyaki egg noodles (also amazing)
Stir fried veggies
Spicy shrimp, sweet and sour pork, szechuan steak

and for dinner, Ohana bread pudding.. yum!!

I did read about this on some other thread, but wasn't aware that it was taking place this swiftly....

We've always enjoyed the dinner & portions/abundance of food at O'Hana, but this past Nov. I think we had our best experience ever...Could've been because we sat 1st table in the center near the fire pit/cooking area. Or just the fact that the pork was delicious, along w/ the other regulars, but 1 other thing we enjoyed were the lettuce wraps, which we've heard will also be gone..And replaced back w/ the salad... Has this happened yet? And 2

As long as they don't get rid of the BREAD pudding, then I'm good 2 go...LoL Yummmm!!!:dogdance:

We ate dinner there this last Saturday and the pork was still there and no chicken (other then the chicken wings).

Good move. Neither were great but chicken has a much wider appeal than por. And dark meat chicken stays much more moist than pork loin.

Trying O'hanas my next trip regardless of the menu changes as long as they don't touch my Lo Mein or Pineapple bread ;)

When I was there in September, the pork was extremely inconsistent. Of the two pieces I had, once was very dried out and not very good, and the other was juicy and tender and delicious. :confused3 I'll miss the yummy pork, but not the dry pork. And with chicken I'm a dark meat girl anyhow, I prefer wings and legs and thighs. I'm willing to give this a chance! :thumbsup2
