chicken at trails end

Best, least expensive meal/deal at fw/dw....get the takeout and go back to camp....pirate:

I have one more question Well that is probally a lie, but for now my question is... Can we use our dining credits to get the bucket of chicken for take out? Like using two credits for pizza delivery.

Don't know about the dining credits because we have never used the dining plan. However, the chicken is outstanding - definitely get the Giddy-Up-N-Go because it's a great value for the money.

We do one meal of chicken like it's been said great taste great onsite value!

We did the Trails End buffet thinking we'd mostly be eating the beef but it was the chicken that won me over..It was great!:thumbsup2

Unless things have changed in the last year, they won't let you use DDP credits for take out at TE. However the last time we had the dining plan we asked, and the CM said "no, but I'll give you the TiW discount" (20%)

We really like the chicken. Agree about getting takeout and either bringing it back to the TT or over to a table on the beach for a picnic. :thumbsup2

hows the fried chicken at the fort?:confused3

This is DH

The Giddy-UP-N-Go is always our first meal at the fort. We disconnect and I run DW up to the Settlement and she get the chicken with a 20% TiW discount, calls me and I come get her. For the two of us we have dinner that night and several lunchs of cold chicken or chicken salad, etc. We manage about 3 meals out of that for around $20. We get it with the fires and biscuits and open up a can of Bush's beans and DINNER IS.

Where exactly do you go to order the chicken and how long do you have to normally wait. We have never tried it, but you guys make it sound so good that I want to add it to our menu!:goodvibes

Our first time at the fort in December we ate the giddy-up meal the first night -we loved it soo much we had to go back later in the week. The chicken and sides were delicous and great value!! mmmm chicken

There's a door up the ramp from the check in stand for the trails end restaurant - it's labeled "Trails End To Go" or something like that. You can only get takeout at dinner time - I think starting around 4pm.
They have decent pizza too, FYI.

My mouth is totally watering now. We did the chicken twice last trip, the family fell on it like a pack of starving dogs. We usually to the GiddyupandGo, then have leftovers for other meals - but there were NO leftovers this time around. No cold chicken snacks! Darn kids. Eat too much.

This sounds like a plan. I'll go get the chicken and DH can set up the pop-up. By the time I get back, he'll be done. (insert evil grin here since I've somehow disabled my smilies).

Could someone tell me what the TiW discount is (as usual I am clueless )

Tables in Wonderland - it's a discount dining card available for purchase by FL residents and AP holders. $100 for FL residents, $75 for AP holders and it's good for a year (sometimes a little more depending on when you buy it). It saves you 20% on TS meals (incl. adult beverages) most places in WDW, as well as some other select locations, like TE takeout, food courts at the values, and I think maybe still the CS locations at AK (unless that's changed recently?) You can also usually use it at the resort lounges and Crockett's Tavern too. :thumbsup2

The chicken...or pizza...is at Trails End in the Settlement. if you're familiar with the area, it's at the end of the wide walk from the bus stop or right across from the GC parking area. Up the steps or ramp and in the double doors. We usually have to wait about 15 minutes, but the GC is ready to whisk us back to the MH with hot chicken and sides ...or pizza...and probably a couple of side salads.

Thanks for the info but this won't work out for us. Instead of the AP we go with the no-expiration tickets. We buy the 10-day no expiration ticket and then use it for 2-3 days each trip and chill out at the Fort for the rest of our trip. We will get more than 1 year out of it this way (but we miss out on the AP discounts:sad1:.
