We are taking a trip to Chicago and would like to take one of the Seadog cruises. The fireworks cruise sounds beautiful but am wondering if the kids (12 & 15) would rather do the Extreme Thrill Ride. Has anyone done these and have advice?

Just wanted to let you know that there are a few different Chicago boat rides currently on Groupon.

Thank you. I did see those Groupons and Travelzoo also has the fireworks cruise listed for $20. That makes it really tough to choose.

We've ridden the Dog a few times. Years back it was an absolute blast as they hit pretty decent speeds, but they have had some incidents and have scaled back. I still think it's a fun ride, but not as fun s it used to be. I have not done the fireworks one, but to me, a speed boat is for exactly that...speed. you can see the fireworks from other locations (they don't last that long, 10-15 minutes maybe?)besides, seeing the skyline during the day is pretty cool, easier to make out the buildings being described. Not that it doesn't look beautiful at night as well, but I just prefer a sunny day when being on the water. Matter of fact, I have a deathly fear of water at night so......guess that's swaying my decision lol.

Having done the extreme ride two years ago with a 16yr boy and 14 girl... I would have to say Extreme is the way to go.
DH is from Chicago and even he had a blast.. Music was great.. the boat is fast turns spins etc.. We went about 1 in the afternoon on a July afternoon. Perfect way to tour the city and cool off. Have fun:yay:

We have done the extreme Sea Dog ride, but I do think it was before it was scaled back, we did it like 6 years ago. It was a lot of fun! We did the combo, where you went into the city for a architectural tour as well. We really enjoyed that part as well.

Finally decided on the Extreme ride...and the groupon is sold out! Anyone know of other places to find Seadog discount tickets?
