If you had a choice to live in one of these cities, which one would you pick and why?

If none of those, is there a city you absolutely love, and also, why?

Let's imagine you're single and that school districts will not matter to give it further color.

Chicago. NY is too big for me and too expensive although I love to visit. Silicon Valley doesn't do anything for me. I have friends there and it's just not my thing. Full disclosure: I live on and love the Great Lakes. I couldn't imagine not living near a large fresh water source. I've lived in the greater Chicagoland area and had family there. Loved it.

I've only been to New York so would have to pick that out of the three.

I do like the Chicago accent though so....

Chicago is lovely - except for winter! That's a pretty big except for a southern woman!

Winter is just a fun challenge in this region. Wind chills of -20? Awesome. I'm staying home from work and playing on the disboards all day.

Got any large cities you've loved in your travels? Unfortunately, my skill set wouldn't transfer to Australia, but it DOES definitely transfer to the large European banking centers. I've spent a ton of time overseas because of it.

None haha but since I've been here for 10 years now NYC. I do love the rich history, culture, and night life. You can always find soemthing to do here.

I definitely know NYC the best. If you added all my nights in the city, it's probably years. For about 10 years I was there at least a solid week a month, if not a lot more.

ETA: the FOOD!!!! I have my favorite sushi, indian, deli, etc, already picked out.
Second ETA: maybe I shouldn't move there, too much good food.

I've spent lots of time in all 3, but as a business traveler. What did you love about it?

The weather :) I honestly didn't love it while living there because I was so homesick.
Last year we (dh and kids) traveled to SF and down the coast to Monterey and Big Sur. It made me realize that I did miss the area for the natural beauty out there. While we lived in San Jose we spent more time traveling then we did in the city.

I do love that bit of the country for that exact reason.

Personally I think Silicon Valley is kind of boring. It's mostly just suburbs. There are quite a few workers who live in San Francisco and commute 40-50 miles. It's even been controversial because of the company shuttles that tend to block narrow streets as they pick up workers.

I don't mind working in Silicon Valley, but I don't live there.

I'm not a commuter type, San Fran could be on the radar separately.

Im a big fan of all 3, I lived in silicon valley for a few years, it was great, so I guess I will go with that

I'm concerned about being bored there, however, weekend possibilities would be great. My grass allergy now keeps me inside a lot more than I'd like and it would be great in that regard.

I live in NYC, so I that is my pick. If I had a choice of European cities, right now it would be Barcelona.

NYC. Because I've lived there twice now, and it's very much my other home. I'll probably move back again someday. There's always something happening, so many things to do (and much of it free!), the museums and entertainment are world class. There are some stunning areas of the city. There's a ton of cons, too, but it still compels me to go back.

The food is easy to deal with. Thankfully there is a lot of good healthy food!
