We have a membership that would get our family in free to many of the Chicago Site (Children's Museum, Field Mus, Science and Industry). Any other places to visit? What about places to eat cheap?

One place I was hoping to take DD4 and DD7 (if I could find coupons) was Rainforest Cafe for a surpise.

Navy PIer of course. Also Adler Planetarium is really neat and the movies they show are amazing. There's RC's downtown and at Schaumburg's Woodfield Mall. There's an IMAX @ Navy Pier too if there's anything playing when you'll be there. Don't forget the zoo's- Lincoln Park is free (though parking is not). Brookfield Zoo also (not free admin). Also Shedd Aquarium. Check out tripadvisor.com and punch in Chicago.

There is playing soccer/frisbee/whatever in Millenium Park. You can also sometimes catch free concerts in the park. There is also "The Bean" otherwise known as "Cloud Gate". The kids like messing around the bean.

ESPN Zone is a good restaurant that boys like.

Just walking along the lake front looking at the boats at the marinas.

You can go up in The Sears Tower (Willis Tower now) and walk out on the ledge over the city. You can go up in the John Hancock Building.

There are boat tours that take off from Navy Pier that are fun. Navy Pier also has Halloween themed stuff (don't remember specifically what) if you are going around that time.

Girls like the American Girl store. There is also the Hershey store.

Hmmm I'll have to think some more......

AFAIK, the only way to get a discount at RFC is to join their club.

As to your timing, the Harry Potter exhibit at Science and Industry closes on September 27th. We saw it last weekend, and it is GREAT!!!! If you have fans of the HP films in your family, go if at all possible. (MSI members get in free. For non-members, this special exhibit costs an extra $13 for adults and $10 for kids.) You should buy the tickets online in advance, especially if you will be going the final week.

There is a Rainforest Cafe downtown - about 4 blocks west of Michigan Avenue on Ontario, I think. There is also an Ed Debevic's catty-corner from Rainforest Cafe that is a lot of fun and reasonably priced. It's a 50's diner type place and the wait staff is hilarious and it's always very busy (wait goes by fast) and there's a ton of action there. I bet your girls would love it.
