CHICAGO Distance Classic -- August 12, 2007

Okay, since I am so excited about this, I thought I'd start a new thread, even though many of us have many (or Minnie ) events to get through between now and then!

So, who's going? Where are you staying?

Howard and I will arrive late Friday night and be in Chicago for the first time in our lives, but for only about 48 hours! We are staying at the Hilton Chicago on South Michigan Avenue (IIRC), which is the site of the race expo and the official race hotel.

I'm flying into Midway on Fri, landing around 1pm, leaving Sunday and booked at the Chicago Hilton, the official WISH racing team CDC hotel

DH and I are officially registered! And since we live about an hour away we will be staying at home.....but an official WISH racing team hotel, not getting up super early? Hmmm, I might have to think about the Hilton!

Krista and I are driving in from Cincinnati and we'll be there around noon on Saturday. We're staying at the Chicago Hilton (apparently THE official hotel of the WISH CDC Racing Team ). We'll be in town through most of Monday and will drive back to Cincy Monday afternoon. We figured that would give us some time to check out Chicago after the race, since we won't really get a chance to enjoy it beforehand.

So are we all going to get together for dinner on Saturday? For that matter, are we all going to head to the expo together? (you know, since it's so far away--as in the lobby of the hotel. I may come downstairs to the expo in my pajama pants and flip flops. If for no other reason than it will be the only expo that I could do that. ).

I am not registered for the race yet, but I have my hotel booked (the official WISH hotel!). We will drive in Saturday morning sometime around noon. We are driving from Wisconsin. We plan to check out Monday and take the girls to either Shedd Aquarium or the Museum of Science and Industry. I will have my kids with me, so if we meet for for dinner, you will all be entertained.

We'lllikely be ther brwn 8 and 9 Firday night adn stay until SUnday afternoon. I'll need to recruit my friend in the area to be a link in teh water chain(if you've seen those LaSalle commercials).

Now now, you KNOW that zebra is strictly a winter/Florida thing. (Thus the butt stripe checkers need not worry about coming out early.) I'm thinking August in Chicago requires something..... tropical! Or maybe patriotic. Hmmm.....

Wonder if there'll be any preseason football while we're there.

I have been to Chicago once for a conference, just an overnight trip. I felt like a total hick the whole time, standing on the sidewalk, staring up at the huge buildings. It was like being on a TV/movie set.

I'm really excited about the trip, but still feel a bit selfish/guilty for going without the fam. I'm very lucky to have so much support from Jeff.

My DW Darcey (DJBounce) and I are in! Made reservations at the Hilton for Saturday and Sunday night! Got our race registrations today as well!
Friday night we are driving from Davenport to Bartlett to stay with an uncle of mine and his family and driving into Chicago on Sat. My Mom will be with us to help watch the kids while we join our WISH friends for a little stoll on Sunday morning! Looking forward to seeing my fellow WISHers again seeing how we won't make it to WDW for Marathon Weekend '08.

Don't want this to get lost in all the excitement over the new ToT race! We are going to have a great group in Chicago. Who else is interested??

Okay, I am having a really hard time thinking of paying $540 for roundtrip airfare for this trip (though I've already booked it so there is NO CHANCE of not getting our flights).

If anyone sees a SWA ding fare for PHL to MDW, please, please let me know! WOW, I just checked again. They have $84 each direction but only through the end of July. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Cam, I will keep an eye out. I almost always fly SWA! I love that you can re-book your flight if the price goes down after you make your reservations. You don't get the money back, just credit, but I saved $100 by re-booking my and my DD's Minnie flights that I will be able to use for ToT in October. Every little bit helps!
