We were in the area so we stopped at the Chicago Michigan Avenue Disney Store.

It was a saturday.

You sure can't tell there's any problem with the economy by going in this store.

It was packed! The line was unreal to pay. They had five CM's at the registers.

There was alot on sale for 50% off.

We bought Mickey Chicago t-shirts in my (DH) size, DW's size and DD6's size. All matching - that's going to be fun when we go to WDW in August.

I like wearing Disney clothes when in WDW. It's fun! And at 50% off, I bought a bunch! I also bought some stuff for DD6 that she doesn't know about yet, we'll just bring it to WDW and produce it at the opportune moments. I bought the Princesses mini fan on a rope that lights up when you turn it on for at night. $2.50 on sale!

We dropped $122.00 including our Disney Club discount and all the 50% off stuff.

Anytime I pay less than $10 for a quality tshirt, I am happy!

By the way, darn nice store in Chicago. The Vernon Hills, IL store is much closer but also much smaller. They didn't have any adult clothes at VH. They had some nice stuff at Chicago!:bounce:

I was just thinking of going downtown to the Disney Store because they didn't have a size 10-12 Tink bathing suit at the Vernon Hills store. Now I guess I HAVE to go. It would be fun to have those Mickey Chicago shirts on our trip.

Have you been to American Girl Store lately???? Again, NOOOO problem with the economy if you base it on this store. One day when we went there was a QUEUE to get INTO the store!!!!!!!!

Hi Maggieview!

I better clarify as I was looking at our stuff today as I was putting it away. I was going through sooooo much stuff there at the store!

The "I Love Chicago" shirts (which have the red Mickey icon in place of the usual heart) were NOT on sale!

My mistake!

We bought the "All American 2003" shirts with a full shot of Mickey on them with an American flag background. These were 50% off which made them $8.25 each. They had all sizes in stock in red, white, blue and grey. We got matching red but I bought a blue and grey for me too.

We were last at the American Girl store last November. Wow! That place is a madhouse! Who would have thought that a new type of doll would sell so much? I sure which I would have come up with the idea!

I finally made it to the Michigan Ave. disney Store last night. I bought 2 adult shirts that on the front were 3 boxes - Mickey in the middle and then a Wrigley field scence on either side. On the back it said "Chicago" and had the 3 boxes - one sears tower, one the lakefront, and one the Chicago Theater.

I bought my oldest DD a shirt that says "Chicago" in bubble letters and then has Mickey standing by it. I bought my youngest DD a shirt that had 9 squares (think... a la Brady bunch) that has the Princesses and on one square it has a street sign that has "Michigan Ave" and on another it says "Chicago"

Thanks for the heads up that they had Chicago/Mickey stuff there. A blend of 2 of my favorite things.

Maggie

I dislike shopping to start, but to go into the city to do it?!? Much rather go to the lake front, zoo, museum, anything but the stores!!

Do you think they would do a phone order? Or can I reach them on line somehow?

Thanks! :D

Have you heard any rumors about the Disney Stores being up for sell? A local CM at one of our TDS in Nashville said this was so. At first , I thought she meant the particular store we were in. And that would leave us only one left in Nashville/Middle TN area: we used to have 4. I hope this is not true.
We were also at a fabulous sell this week-- 50% was great!!

I'm with you, house_of_princesses, but those shirts really do sound cute. I may have to brave the Mich. Ave. mayhem and go for it. We are going in to see Lion King soon- maybe we'll make a disney day of it!:smooth: :smooth:

I wouldn't mind making a Disney Day of it, either. (We go to The Lion King 7/16.) However, I'll have not only my Dd's, but DH, parents and sister as well. They won't go for the Disney Day idea. I just may try phoning them.
