Chicago Disers- Cubs game and the Red Line

Dh and DS have tickets to a Cubs game. It is on a weeknight. They could take the train in from South Bend to Chicago, however, I *think* Ds said the game won't be over before the last train leaves going back. So, they are wanting to drive in and are looking for a place to park and ride. What is the best (and safest) station to do this from? And how late do the trains run? TIA!
