Chicago Dis Unplugged Meet 6/22/08 Trip Report

Oh yeah, thanks a ton Janet, Rich (don't think I got to meet you, though), Tracy and the rest for making the event what it was... which was fun!
Also thanks to the podcast crew for thier contributions as well (now I can focus on the t-shirt if my voicemail gets aired ).
From meeting people at Doorway to Dreams (including the cast members, who were awesome) to the people we had lunch with; it was fun to be with fellow addicts and can't wait to do it again

Also, thanks for letting me know what a Geef is... it was driving me NUTS

I really enjoyed meeting all the people I haven't met before, as well as Michelle (Disneynut), whom I had met from other Chicago area meets. I'm sorry that my pal GBShorts couldn't make it, along with the other no shows.

LOL, Jamie. Derek did put me on the spot with the "choose your favorite resort" question. Even though I don't have kids, I do think it's like asking a parent to pick their favorite child. Also, thanks for being the Bagallini spokesmodel.

Loved the girl who should be a reporter someday, since she kept going back to the "When are you opening the Contemporary DVC?" question. I hadn't gone through the presentation before, because I'm already a member. I've been to the store a few times to attend DVC member events, so I already knew how the AKL rooms were set up. I get a Disney pick-me-up when I'm there.

Michelle and I were the troublemakers in the back of the room, giving some testimonials. She and I practically high fived each other when we discovered we share the same home resort (BCV) and have used points to stay at Disneyland recently.

And wow, I think every cast member in the store came by to watch us monkeys on display at the presentation. I'm green with envy over those beautiful DVC pins!

But I want to thank Tracy for all the giveaways! I like the bag I won (see Jamie's pic of the peach/orange bag; I won the same one), and I am already foreseeing a use for it: Toting around library books. I enjoyed turning around and eavesdropping on your table.

I still would love to do the cruise, but I think I'll be booking my DVC for next May soon.

And lastly....Janet, you're a rock star! Thank you for taking the reins!

OK, home from work and downloading some new Disney podcasts (meh, I'm addicted to podcasts. Even have my own, about racing) so I have a little time to post.

Got to echo a few sentiments, first off thanks to Nooshkins for being the main person to get this off the ground. Also, a huge thanks to Doorway To Dreams for hosting us, they were FABulous!! Derek did a great job of taking care of us and when I buy my Bay Lake Tower shares, I'll buy through that store.

And yes, it was my daughter, who about 3 minutes into the spiel asked, "When is the Contemporary DVC going to open?" It's just that she has heard me talk so much about it and how that's the place we want for our home.

Wish we had done some more socializing within the group. Next time there is a meet, I'll be there, and if nobody objects I'd love to emcee it. There were so many ideas I had for some fun, but I didn't know if it would have been OK. So I sat quietly. Next time however, just tell me and I'll ham it up.

I have no problem with that! Nooskin took the reigns on this one, and she stepped up and did a great job (Great Job Again!). Go for it.

If you need help with ideas of where and when, I think a lot of us would like to help. If I remember correctly (without going back to look), someone said they work at the Kane County Cougars, and could set something up there. (for those who don't know, Kane County Cougars is a minor league baseball team.)

I am so, so, soooo sad we missed it. My one-year old daughter woke up with a temp of 103.4. I was completely bummed.

It looks like you all had a blast and I am so sad I had to miss it.

Sadly it's true - I make a better door than a window!

Right here! I haven't had a chance to download my pictures, but I will try this afternoon. I had some family things come up yesterday. I may have a picture of the Lion King Group.
