Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

Remember the Cubs TV and radio jingle on WGN. I always loved this:

That was from the early 2000's. I had already moved back to Wisconsin and rarely saw or listened to games that I didn't attend. I could get the game on the radio, but it didn't come in very clearly. I love MLB At Bat that allows me to listen to all the games but that didn't start up until a few years ago.

This is the one I remember:

They gave Dusty too much airtime ... although his reaction after Rizzo's base hit was worth watching again and again.

I'm a little surprised they left in Rizzo's "%$#@ Yeah!" at the end LOL.

article included what DS wrote on the wall~Let Baez be Baez, lol! and our names

I like how you included #40 :). I bummed I missed writing on the wall.

So ... I had a couple of issues with security and last night's game. First of all, we were redirected to a different exit FOUR times. The Cubs usually clear the ballpark from right field to left and we attempted to exit out the front entrance (which, BTW was completely clear under the Marquee) after the game. We were redirected to exit H, which is The Park exit. We exited into The Park which has 4 exits. We tried to take the south exit (back to Clark & Addison) was it was blocked even though the area behind it was also clear. We then tried to take the west exit but it was also blocked but in that case the sidewalk was a mess. We tried to take the northwest exit and it too was closed just as we got there. We were finally able to get out of the north exit but it was a cluster you know what traffic jam of humanity. The police had closed northbound Clark street to all traffic (including pedestrian) so all the people who were exiting towards Clark street were forced on a sidewalk with The Park on one side and barricades on the other. It was a mess! I think the Cubs could have done a much better job of crowd control and not dumped us into an already overcrowded situation.

Once we cleared the crowd, we looked for our CTA bus. In the past, the busses (CTA, free school bus shuttle and Roundtripper from the 'burbs) all pick up right outside of Wrigley. We were dropped off on Racine but I still hoped that maybe they would pick up in front of Wrigley after the game. Nope. We trekked back to Racine and then kept on walking another few blocks until we finally saw the CTA busses. The free school bus shuttles (I had no idea they offered them for the game even though I looked online) were another block or two past them. All of which is FINE if you are able bodied. However, I saw a number of disabled and elderly people making that walk with canes and walkers. It's a LONG way if you're using a walker or a cane. A REALLY LONG way. Now, I understand why they had the busses so far away but I don't understand why they didn't have something in place to shuttle disabled people to the busses.

I called Cubs Fan Services today to express these concerns and the agent really seemed like she couldn't care less. There was dead silence on the phone so I had to ask if she was still there a couple of times. I got a robotic "I'll share your comments." and that was it. Oh, except she also said that the Cubs don't control street closures. *grumble*

Weather thoughts? What would they be allowed to play through. Seems to be heavy forecast.

I think they are going to try to get the game in. We need to hit off of Roark and score right away. We need to be ahead if they only get 4 1/2 innings in (about 90 minutes).

Yes. I just read the same. They are hoping it’s spotty and light rain (i.e., playable) before it gets unplayable later in the evening. There may be a heavy short stint near game time. Agree, have to face Roark. If they delay a day it’s a pure gift to the Nats; they’d just skip him then.

since all 9 have to be played for a playoff game it gets tricky. With the Dodger's clinching that opens up the 3pm slot of tomorrows broadcast schedule so I could see them postponing it, honestly. That sucks becasue it gives Strasburg another day and you can bet your bippy he will start, and then if we don't seal the deal, on a late flight to DC and then the quick turn around to LA(jumping 3 time zones) to a rested up Dodger team. Even bumping it up to 3 today could have helped, and I am sending all my vibes to the rain God's to do us a solid...but I would think they will go with the chance at a full game in tomorrow vs a split today/tomorrow. Still dry by me but the radar showing some nasty stuff hitting right about 4:30

HERE'S TODAY *HOPING WE GET THIS GAME IN* LINEUP

Baker made a few changes with Werth and Rendon in the Nat's lineup..no idea if he has to keep it if the game is postponed to tomorrow

1. Trea Turner, SS
2. Jayson Werth, LF
3. Bryce Harper, RF
4. Ryan Zimmerman, 1B
5. Daniel Murphy, 2B
6. Anthony Rendon, 3B
7. Matt Wieters, C
8. Michael Taylor, CF
9. Tanner Roark, P

yeah...and in the hourly it switched the hit time from 4 to 5 but increased the chance from 35% to 65% and removed light rain to rain. Now it saysOccasional rain likely to begin at 5:00pm. " I guess at least by playing at 3 tomorrow~barrinng extra's~ they still have a shot at a decent time flight (as in not 4 a.m.) IF needed back to DC. However it will be Jake vs Strasburg. The Cubs have held their own against stellar pitching tho, last 2 playoff years beating Bumgarner, Cueto,Kershaw,Hill,,Kluber,Braun,Scherzer,Stasburg to name a few. Respect Me indeed, Rizzo....the entire Cubs team deserves more than it gets from the sports world and Dusty.

announcement from Dusty:

Nationals manager Dusty Baker said he's unsure whether Tanner Roark or Stephen Strasburg would start a potential Wednesday Game 4 makeup.

sure, Dusty...sure

also~ TBS was asked to move the game to 1 and they refused. Hmmmmm...ratings of Strasburg vs Roarke perhaps?
