We will be driving from SW Michigan on sunday afternoon to a hotel near Midway airport. Most maps tell you to take the Sky Way and Dan Ryan but I hate driving that way! Is there a better way that would be less congested? Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA

We are south of chicago and there are 2 ways from here: I guess you will be on 80 West?

80 to 57 north > cicero ave. > to midway airport. Midway is on cicero. Almost all the way to 55.

or

this is problably way out of your way but 80 west to 55 north to cicero ave.

unfortunately there is alot of construction on all the major highways around here.
Good luck, and have a safe drive. mky:cutie:

Anyway back into Illinois on a Sunday Afternoon is rough... Both from Wisconsin and Michigan... I think your best bet is to drive in on Sunday MORNING... before all the weekenders start heading back.

Side streets are not really an option since they all go through some really rough areas....

Thanks. I was afraid we would run into alot of traffic on sunday afternoon. We can't check into our hotel until 3 but I think we will go early anyway and give it a try. I hate Traffic!

The biggest problem may be Lollapalooza traffic. Definitely don't take the Dan Ryan. That's a nightmare.

If it were me, I'd take the Skyway in to the Stony Island Avenue (to Lake Shore Drive) exit. Once you get onto Stony Island, there are signs that lead you right to Lake Shore Drive. You'll go down Stony Island for a little bit, then curve through Jackson Park and past the Museum of Science and Industry. Just follow the green signs that direct you to Lake Shore Drive.

Take Lake Shore Drive to 55 and boomerang back out towards Midway. Exit Cicero Avenue for Midway Airport.

Is Lollaplaooza at the World? (or what ever it's called now lol) If so then Yeah.. I would got the way Manda suggest... and a bonus! By following her directions, you could make a pit stop at the Museum Of Science and Industry, it's a great place to kill a few hours.

And I would say your on Stoney for more than a little bit, doesn't the skyway let you off around 95th... and LSD is at 57th... So around 40 blks/8 miles which I guess is a little bit... but with lights, it seems more so. lol

Lollaplaooza is at grant park so I would definatly avoid downtown at all costs. I would take 294 and get off at 95th st and take harlem down to midway. You may be on Harlem for a while (lights)but its better than sitting on LSD or the Dan Ryan and not moving. I came from Indiana last weekend and took the skyway and got on 55 boy was that a mistake bumber to bumber. It took me an hour and 15min to get to 294. There is no really good way everything is under construction.
