Happy Friday:yay:

Well my last day at work for the next week and no I have not started packing yet. I have most of our clothes in one spot but they are no where near the suitcase. lol

I have a feeling it will be a long day today. I am hoping the evening goes slow just so I have time to get everything done. I need to drive to my aunts house tonight since we are going to leave from there.

I hope that everyone is dealing with the heat alright. I can't believe it will be as warm here as it will at Disney.

Take care and stay cool.

TGIF! Everyone keeping cool? I think today's forecast is in the high 80s. Practically a cold front, eh? Not much new here. Just counting down the days until school starts. registered yesterday. DD was so sad when she found out the teachers will provide the folders. We have a few HSM ones she was hoping to use. We then went supply shopping. DD is a little school oving nerd and was dying to get her stuff. Ds is not very excited at all!
Speaking of countdowns, anyone doing anything for HSM 2? We are getting together with some of dd's friends for a premeire party! Should be fun! I am making basketball cupcakes.
Tiggerrn- Hope the audition went well!
Bunchkin- Don't you love all that name labeling? Last year we had to lable first and last names on every crayon. My kids have long first and last names!
Disneywoz- Hi!
Everyone planning a trip, I am with DMM...wah! I want to go, too! I think we will try for next summer. Much too far away, but at least it is something. Bf has never been there, so I don't want to take him over Spring or Xmas Break. Too crazy for a first timer! Since he is a teacher, that is all we are left with- summer!

Good morning! We had a good time at the game last night. The mosquitos were well feed, by us.

Looks like today should be a good day for mowing down my grass, all that rain made for very long grass.

What do all of you have planned. Next week I have to start Alex's school shopping.

Have you all been following the story about those miners in Utah? What a difficult life they lead. Those poor families waiting for news.

Morning

Eric got up this am to go to Football and he came and told us that the freezer isn't working, it is warm and the ice cream is melting.. guess we have ice cream for breakfast.. :rotfl2: so I am not sure what the problem is but both freezer and frig is too warm. Luckily, I have an old frig in the garage so i moved everything there and thought I'd stop by on my way to look at frig repair sites..

Hersey Glad you fed those mosquitos, I'm sure they appreciated it! :thumbsup2
Are you shopping for back to school supplies or clothes?

I need to shop for clothes and shoes, mainly for Hunter.

geffric Sorry to hear your fridge is not working properly! What a bummer. Hopefully it can be repaired and doesn't need to be replaced. How old is it?

Tiggerrn It was great seeing you and the kids yesterday. Both Lauren and Hunter had a great time playing with Kellie and Kyle! :)
Much luck to Kellie on getting that part in the ballet!! If she does I'll have to buy tickets to see her!! I wanted to go see it anyway but now have an extra reason to attend! :)

Hope everyone here has a great weekend! :hippie:

Disneynut-Michelle Hope you were able to get done packing!!
Have a safe trip with the kids!! Hope you have a nice drive too!!
Make sure you come back and give us trip report!!! :teeth: And have a GREAT time!!!!! :cool1:

good saturday to all the chicagoland homies.
don't think i will be on line very much this weekend.

but, will be going to church sunday, will cover your backs.

Good Morning all.

We have a wedding to go to this afternoon & I'm excited for it. It should be itneresting as it's my DD's gymnastics/cheer coach. She's such a sweetheart though, she handed out papers to everyone & if they want a picture with her in her wedding attire we have to arrive an hour before the wedding. :thumbsup2 She's going to have 1 big picture with all her "girls" -- just she has no idea how many are showing up (we are only invited to the ceremony so #'s didn't matter to her). I know for a fact besides ourselves -- at least a couple cheer people are & a few gymnastics ones too. I have to laugh because we have a girl that was from England on our team, then they moved back & they came in for a visit this past week so came to our pool party & will be going to the wedding. What makes it sweet is that it seemed as if they planned their visit specifically for the wedding. *ahhhh* Although, it will be so different to see the coach in anything besides shorts/sweats & a t-shirt. :rotfl2: We probably won't recognize her.

We also find out who my younger 2 boys get for teachers today if the mail comes. They mailed the information out yesterday. First time they've mailed it, usually it's posted. My DD found out her team assignment yesterday & her schedule. I'm not sure how this year is going to go.
She got the "mean" gym teacher. :scared1: and the opposite team that she wanted to be on. I'm just real happy though because she has Language Arts II after gym -- so her being 5 minutes late or so, hopefully won't affect her as much as some of the other classes could (she will be late after gym). Last year she had math afterward & I really think it affected her grade since she tended to miss the daily review that was graded.

I just hope she doesn't get on the gym teachers bad side as I've heard if you are on her good side it's OK. Considering it's quite possible that DD will be late to gym class every day but that's medical and I'll be the squeaky wheel if I have to but I hate having to do that. We are just waiting to see which one of her friends are on her team. We know 1 is and 1 is not but she wasn't able to get in touch with a couple other ones. In addition to she's friends with several guys but there is no way she was going to call them. :rotfl:

Then have to finish school supply shopping sometime this week. We looked everywhere for those non-perforated notebooks & we could not find them. Even at Wal-Mart, Office Max; Office Depot; Target; Meijer -- so we gave up. I'm thinking in this case maybe it would have been worth it to buy the PTO supplies since they are supposed to get the correct ones of everything you need. Hopefully they had better luck than we did. As DH said though, if we were having that much trouble finding non-perforated then other people must be too.

Becky What about the spiral notebooks that have the perforated pages to pull out? Is that what they mean? I see those all over, in fact we bought a few at Target. It looks like a regular spiral notebook but inside the pages are perforated.

Becky What about the spiral notebooks that have the perforated pages to pull out? Is that what they mean? I see those all over, in fact we bought a few at Target. It looks like a regular spiral notebook but inside the pages are perforated.

That's exactly what they DON'T want. They don't want those micro-perforated spiral notebooks & I've looked at all of them. They *all* have the micro-perforations even if they don't say so on the outside -- you open it up & there it is. DH even said he looked at $9.00 ones and they all had the microperforation on the edge.

I was supposed to get 2 70-page wide ruled spiral notebooks NOT perforated types and I honestly don't think they exist. I know it was mentioned on here Wal-Mart & I think it was Office Max but neither of those near us had them without the perforations. I looked at the cheap ones, I looked at the designed ones, heck I even looked at the girly ones just in case.

Now, I didn't do an on-line web search to see if I could custom order them somewhere or something like that but it's for a 2nd grader!!!! I think I've done enough running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to find exactly what was on the list & I have had no luck. At least when they get past 3rd grade, then they can have the perforations & once they get to Middle School it gets a LOT easier -- they don't even care what colors/designs you buy. In grade school, it's dictated to you (at least in the lower levels anyway).

Ok, so I understand....
You are NOT looking for the kind that is perforated inside. The school wants normal spirals that the paper rips away from the metal spiral and makes for lots of little bits of paper to fall everywhere. RIGHT?? :)

If so I know we bought some of those......I'll have to go look at where.

Morning everyone.
Bunchkin, thanks very much for yesterday. We enjoyed our afternoon visit with you. The kids had a great time. Kyle has been looking online at the Lego website checking out the Star Wars stuff Hunter has and planning his Christmas wish list.:scared1: I don't want to give up summer.

Thanks to everyone for the good luck wishes for DD. The audition went well. We will hear something in 1-2 weeks we were told. So we shall see. DD now wants to audition for the Nutcracker with the Joffrey Ballet company in Chicago. Those auditions are Sept 9th. I am not sure about the commitment for that. I'll bet it is huge. Not to mention, the auditions are probably rough.

Tickets for Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert go on sale Aug. 18th. She will be at the Allstate Arena Dec. 8th. Think I will try to suprise DD and get a couple. Anyone else?

Becky, good luck with those notebooks. I can't believe something seemingly so simple can be so difficult.

Better run. Our Park District has their Wild West Days today. Kids want to go check out the games and stuff. I volunteered to work a ticket booth for an hour this afternoon. DH is off to the races again. Oh, Bunchkin, tell Tony the race team I was trying to think of yesterday that DH company is sponsoring is Robert Yates' team.
Later all.

BINGO!!!! We have a winner! Our 2nd graders use them as journals, so they don't rip them out anyway.

I think what might be happening with the perforated ones is that they start to rip when the kids write too hard or whatever. I understand why they don't want the perforated kind, I am just completely stumped as to where to find such a thing nowadays. I feel like they asked us to go "get a rotary phone" -- yeah...good luck in finding that type of thing. :rotfl2:

Becky- I found a ton of the 70 page spiral notebooks, micro perforated at hte Walmart by me. Unfortunatley I know you are looking for non-perforated only.
I really don't know if anyone carries the non perforated this yr at Walmart or Target. I bought a bunch of the 70 page wide-ruled spirals for the kids on Wed. All the spiral notebooks we saw at Walmart were these microperforated kind now. You can't even tell the pages tear out. To me, the pages in the spirals just look like regular white lined paper. You really can't tell they are perforated at all. The pages in these new spirals don't come out that easily, they don't perforate that fast.
Maybe the school will let you buy the microperforated type spirals? They were
10 cents each by my Walmart.
Hope this helps.

I know, isn't back to school shopping fun? Having a real hard time finding the TI 15(Texas Instruments) calculators. In my area, these calculators are supposedly at Office Max or Office Depot. Went yest and both places were sold out of these calculators. Had to order one online, according to what was on our school supply list.

Have a good day everyone!

Becky, good luck with those notebooks. I can't believe something seemingly so simple can be so difficult. .

I got an e-mail about the concert & I'm debating but I have shelled so much $$$$$ out for High School Musical stuff (we are going to see it on ice in January) that I'm really thinking I'm being unfair to the boys to take DD to all these concerts and they get nothing. Plus I really don't have the $ for it anyway -- I want to try and save up to go to Disney. I'm still debating. A lot depends on when DD's meets are and also how much tickets are. I think they are on pre-sale now but I have no clue what the code is to get them.

You would think a simple notebook wouldn't be that hard but it's typical for me. LOL!!!! I will tell you IF I ever find them I'm stocking up! I still have a younger one that is going to have to go through school & these are a rare commodity, as he will need that type through 3rd grade at least.

I suppose I should get off the computer & feed the munchkins & get ready to go to the wedding in a bit.

:thumbsup2 I've found tons of the .10 ones. DH happened to call me and said "I found them -- I got a 6 pack" yesterday on his way home. Knowing him, I'm sure he didn't actually LOOK carefully enough -- so I did a "Are you sure?" you need to actually LOOK at it & sure enough once he opened the 6 pack they were perforated -- so since he bought those already & couldn't return them (as in they were cellophane wrapped) -- we will just use those for the 2nd grader. I'm fairly sure the teachers won't say anything but UGH..I did TRY to get what they asked for.

As for the calculator -- DD can't find hers so I'm hoping they aren't sold out now that we need to get one. There were lots when we went shopping previously but we thought we had one so didn't buy it. NOW that we need it, they will be sold out. Maybe not if we are lucky. :rotfl: I know I overheard an employee at Meijers tell a person "we haven't gotten all our stuff in yet". I was quite surprised at that considering school starts in 2 weeks -- I figure I can probably get the calculator there then.

Since I am a huge dork, let me try this again. Woohoo! 1000th post. That's a whole lotta' Disney talk!:mickeyjum

will post the longer version later tonight.

VH1 description says"In 1982, Walt Disney helped us keep our science straight and bored kids to tears with his brand new EPCOT Center, the "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow." (TVKirby sez - The segment is the second one after the commercial break at 40 minutes in. As expected, they spend a huge TWO minutes with the VH1 celebrities that call it both Fantastic and Boring. Wil Wheaton proclaims it "Everything that Geeks Love". They show scenes from opening day. There is a shot of Dreamfinder and Figment. Commentary on World Showcase concentrates on the availability of alcohol. Lots of "It looks like a big golf ball" references to Spaceship Earth combined with a graphic of a giant golf club hitting it. It was about what you would expect from VH1. Worth recording for the footage.)
