Yesterday was a great day!!
I had some sales at the store, I was able to leave and eat dinner with my family, and then after I came home from closing up the store, me and the kids did some night-time swimming. Yesterday was a good day!!!! :goodvibes

Today is going to be hot!!! :sunny:
I'm looking forward to going swimming again tonight. :teeth:

Mac - How's your son doing today? I will send more PD his way!!:wizard:

geffric - My employee is doing great alone :thumbsup2 In fact, I'm giving her a key to the store today so I don't have to go back at night. I"m so grateful that I have her:) I'm already missing her when she leaves for Ball State in about a month:guilty: Luckily, she'll be back when she's on break and Christmas:santa:

castoff - Have fun at The Taste!!! :cool1: Try to stay cool in the heat.

HERSEY - How is Alex enjoying his summer?

Becky - That's to bad that your DD is going to have rain when she's at camp :umbrella: I hope she's able to still have a good time.

Tigggggggggern - Your PD worked - I had 3 sales yesterday!! :cheer2:

Michelle - How are you feeling in all this heat? I was pregnant with both my girls during very hots summers :sunny:

piglet - I bet your kids were happy to see you!!:goodvibes
**What movies did you see?

traces7 - I'm so glad you feel comfortable to come back here again for advice:goodvibes All your plans for Navy Pier sound great!! My DD is 8 and she loves the childrens museum :thumbsup2 It will take a lot of time because there's so much for children to do - hands on :) There's a large Build-A-Bear store in there, so if your DD enjoys that store, she'll be in heaven :teeth: I think you will really enjoy your day there. If you have any other questions, please feel free to return here :)

Jedi - Great pictures!!! I"m glad you had fun at The Police concert :cool1:

poohlovermom - :wave2:

Good morning everyone!

Slo Glad you had some sales yesterday. Word of mouth will come. Alex is having fun running around with my friend and her kids. They have gone all over Graue mills in Oakbrook, Morton aboretum, our local water park. He is in a reading club at the library too.

poohlovermom Glad you are having a fun summer.

I have to go get ready. We are headed over into Wheaton for the french market before it gets to hot.

the other 2 sons at home are sick. one not well at all and the other has the flu.

when the flu bug son falls asleep, i'll be heading out to curves.

i don't have ac but it usually does not get as hot here near the lake where i am.

hope all have a great weekend

Morning all.
Mac, sorry to hear your sons are sick. Hope they are feeling better soon. And hope your DS with the tonsils out is checking back in with the MD. Strange for him to still have a fever. I would think that is not normal unless something is infected.

Slo, glad to know the pixie dust worked. I'll send some more for the weekend sales.:wizard: pixiedust:

I am hoping DH will sweep and vacuum this weekend. Can't stand the furry carpet look!!! Especially on the kitchen floor.

Hersey, have fun at the Market. Hope you find some good stuff.

poohlovermom, hello. Welcome back. Glad you are enjoying your summer.

Well, better run. DS is invited to a birthday party today and DD wants to get out in the pool. Must be really warm out this morning. The air is on in the house already and that hasn't happened here for weeks. Mac, what do you mean no air.:scared1: Must be nice and cool on your lake. Of course, you are on the northern border.:rotfl2:

Later all.

/
yup tigggggeeeeeerrrrrrrnnnnnnnn, no air.

my house was built in 79 and the a/c unit, which is larger than a small shed, died years ago.

never could swing replacing it.

Hello!!! :wave2:

slo Good to hear you have gotten more customers!! YAY!!! :yay:
If I could suggest one thing to you, is to have your employee return your store key before she leaves for school! You never know where it might get misplaced.

hersey Hope the market was fun!! What did you get?

Tiggerrn Hope you're on the mend!!! Boot filled with bugs....YUCK!!! :rotfl: Still going to DL?

mac Sorry to hear that all your kids are sick!!! Hope they're all feeling well soon too!!! :goodvibes

castoff Welcome to the Chicago thread!!!! :hippie:
I'm sure your DD will meet lots of people once she starts school!! Is she involved in any sports or band or clubs? You could contact the school to see what is offered, that's a great way for her to make friends!! :goodvibes

traces Navy Pier is one of our fav places to go!! I think your DD would like the Children's Museum. I have an almost 10 year old that still enjoys it.
Charlie's Ale House is a great place to eat too!!! The steak salad is the best and the kids mac is YUM-O!!! :) Lots of activites go on outside of the Pier too all day, including concerts.
Check out some of the sites for the water taxi's. Sometimes they have coupons.

Well, I gotta run!!!

We are going to a friend's for a BBQ. It's actually a BBQ with our friend's and a couple of their close neighbors whose backyards all meet together. It's becoming an annual tradition! Everyone invites who ever they like and everyone brings food!! I made a couple Tastefully Simple dips and a batch of brownies!!

Hope everyone has a safe and cool weekend!!!

Hey Bunchkin, where ya been?
DL is still up in the air. Never bought return trip tickets, so just have to do that if we can make it. See the ortho Thursday and repeat x-ray. will know more then.
Brownies!!!???? I love brownies. HMMMM. Maybe I'll make some this week. (Since I have nothing better to do.:rotfl2: )
Later

It is quite the process for her to go from NY school to Chicago. She can't even tour school or see her counselor till they call her in Aug.:confused3

BBQ was a ton of fun!! We were there 6 hours!!!! Kids are beat, just put them to bed. LOTS of people. Kids got to swim in our friend's neighbors new pool. They had one of those huge hot dog carts set uptoo!! Really cool!!! :cool2: There was also a DJ....it was a 14 yr old!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've been hiding!!! :rotfl: ;) Actually, I've been busy with the kids and trying to get my house cleaned. Ya know, cleaning the stuff that you normally don't do on a regular basis.

I don't blame you for not buying return flight tickets. It would be a real bummer being in DL with that boot on and having to use an ECV or wheelchair all the time. :sad2:

And the brownies.........they were a hit. I use this Hershey mix they have at Sam's Club. I swear it's the best brownie mix!! ::yes::

Our school tours are in mid August too.
Does her new school have a web site that she can look at to get an idea of not only what the school looks like but also what extra things they offer?

::yes:: funny thing is she did all of that research before we even got here.:rotfl2: She is very excited about being here and the school it's just that she is shy and I am having a hard time for her meeting people BEFORE school starts.

traces7 not sure, but sounds like you have a lot on your plate for just 6 hours. I'm sure some of the Downtowners will know for sure, but I think it will take you a bit of time to get from Navy Pier to Sears Tower. Just being at the Pier alone, you could spend 6 hours easy. There are a lot of shops. The ferris wheel takes a good bit of time as well. It goes slow. Don't remember how long it takes to get all the way around, but my DH and DD loved it!!! I kept my feet on the ground :rolleyes1
We haven't been there in quite a while, but the last time we were there with the kids the Children's Museum was $$$ and I didn't think it was worth the money.
Someone who is more well acquinted will come and let you know better answers to your questions.
Does anyone know how long it will take for the water taxi from Navy Pier to Sears Tower? We might not do everything I mentioned if we run out of time. Can anyone tell me what there is at the Children's Museum?
I had heard of Bubba Gump's, not sure if we'll go there. I also heard of the Build a Bear Workshop, trying to keep my DD out of there! We've been twice this year already! Thanks for all the advice everyone! :) :goodvibes

We are getting alot of pool time this weekend. :teeth:
Friday night we were in the pool :)
Last night we were in the pool :)
Today we are going to be in the pool all day - I can hardly wait!!! I love hot days like we are going to have today :cool1: We also have a great breeze here, which makes the day even better. We are going to have to wear a whole bottle of sunscreen so we don't fry while we are outside :sunny:

HERSEY - I'm glad Alex is having a great summer :cool1:
*Did you have a nice time at The French Market? What is that and where is it?

mac - Your boys aren't doing well this weekend:guilty: Sending lots of PD your way for all of them:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: How are they feeling today?

Tigggerrrrrrrrrrn - How's your ankle doing today? I sure hope it's feeling better :wizard:

Bunchkin - That's an excellent suggestion, and I will do that!!! ::yes:: :thumbsup2
**I'm glad you had fun at your BBQ :teeth:

castoff - I'm sorry you got fried at The Taste :sunny: Put lots of aloe on it, and that should help some :thumbsup2

Well friends, I gotta run and get ready to lay in the sun (I can hardly wait!!) :sunny:
Have a good day today everyone!!

good sunday morning chicagoland homies......

off to church now, i have your backs for the week.....:rolleyes1

slo, thanx for the pixie dust. boys still not well. i may have to take them for medical care if they don't improve by this evening.

Happy sunday all! it's been a crazy-busy weekend and I'm in and out of the house. The weather has me ROASTING and i feel like this baby is cooking a little too quickly in that oven

Michelle - How are you feeling in all this heat? I was pregnant with both my girls during very hots summers

Feeling great, just too hot! haah! and i am getting dehydrated real fast! I had some problems with my Carpal Tunnel syndrome, but soem cortisone shots took care of that and the itch from my pregnancy rash :woohoo: Thanks for asking!

What kind of store do you have Sandy?

Hope you all had a fun weekend, can't believe it's over!!

Have a good week everyone!!

Does anyone know how long it will take for the water taxi from Navy Pier to Sears Tower?

I've never used the water taxi, so I can't really tell you. However, I can tell you that it's about two miles of river between the Sears Tower and Navy Pier. If it picks you up at the pier itself, you will have to go through the Chicago lock, which will add to your travel time.

The ride on the water taxi from Navy Pier to the Sears Tower area (Jackson & Wacker) will probably take about an hour depending on how you catch the lock. If you get into the lock as you approach, it could be shorter, but if you have to wait for a lock, then get in the next lock, it could take a lot longer. Each lock takes about 20 to 25 minutes. If you are pressed for time, it might be wiser to take a cab.

The water taxi's are a great way to see our beautiful city though, if you aren't pressed for time.
