Good morning everyone! I looked outside and it wasn't just a bad dream it's still white outside. Yes it looks pretty and kids like it, but it not so fun to drive in it and scrap it off your car. It's making my floors inside icky too.

I want sunshine, a drink with an umbrella walk around with out shoes outside not just inside

I am waiting to find out it school is a go or not. Well into the shower I go I expect it going to be a rough ride in the morning. TTFN

It finally stopped snowing, and Stephanie will be very excited to know that she will have another day off of school I think today we will go outside and build a snowman

Bunchkin - When I had my sore throat, it came on suddenly too I woke up and felt fine, and then it started coming in late morning, and then by evening it was horrible. I sure hope you feel better soon
**Benedryl makes me horribly sleepy too (actually, it makes me feel intoxicated) I can't take it.

we have school at my end of the woods, so the kids are off. They were hoping for a snow day but no such luck..

OMG I need a drink with an umbrella in it!!!!!! I know all you guys feel the same! holy cow! my kids have had school all week...i know we got less snow up here in Mchenry county...but I STILL had to go out yesterday three different times and shovel/snowblow the driveway/sidewalks. CCD was canceled and so was my PTO meeting last night....but geesh.

Although dd Grace is home sick today....woke up 3 times last night to get eick.....oh well, I wanted to dis and do laundry all day...

STAY warm everyone! Guess with her being sick, i need to rethink the chili I was going to make for dinner. & we love the tortilla crusted tilapia from Market Day too!!!

We are back to business as usual today. I knew we would be. We never ever get 2 snow days back to back. Maybe in the 70's when it was the big blizzard -- I think my mom said we had a week off. However, never have happened since. They give us a day to shovel out.

Of course, it's my insanity day with karate & tutoring (I'm hoping the tutor calls & cancels....but I doubt it!).

I still need to shovel again but it will have to wait until after lunchtime as my little guy has a park district class & then by the time that's done it's lunchtime. Here's hoping he will take a nap so I can get out there and shovel -- he didn't take one yesterday but it was fine leaving him inside awake since all the big kids were here & DH (who never really did get a chance to sleep even if he wasn't feeling well. I had him watching the kids anyway -- hey at least *I* did the shoveling so he didn't have to get up!)

Good Morning Chicago!!

What a morning!! School is on today, but with a hour's late start!

I had to shovel out the driveway because it was at least a foot deep from drifting.
And thank the Lord it's not snowing here anymore and the sun is out!!


Today I have to be at Lauren's school for their Valentine party.
I still need to head out and buy ice cream as we are making sundaes! Perfect dessert for cold weather!

Good chilly morning all. No school here and the park district called and there will be no programs there today either. No ballet for DD. Kids are bundled and out to play in the snow. (will probably last 5 minutes ) Personally, I dread even having to go out to shovel. Maybe if I wait until 1 or so it will be a little warmer. At least the sun is out.
Slo, tilapia is fish. Very light. But the seasoning they put on the tortilla crusted tilapia is slightly spicey with a twang of lime. It's really good.
DH braved the snow and went to work today. I didn't get any calls so I guess he made it safely.
On the Fox news last night they were interviewing drivers trying to make it on the expressways. One of the ladies was a woman I work with. I about fell over. She was trying to get to work and almost slid into a State Trooper. She turned around to go home. Then this morning I get a call-can you come to work? I was like uh, no. Kids are home. What a great excuse.
Bunchkin are you feeling better this AM? Have fun at your valentine's parties. I hope my kids get to do their parties tomorrow. I hope they go back to school tomorrow.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

My kids had school yest and today,too! They didn't even get out early yest., which I thought might happen. Afterschool activities cancelled yest tho. My kids have a Tues afternoon afterschool club they attend, so that was cancelled and came home on the bus as usual. Chrissy never wears her boots coming home on the bus- she usually carries them in her arms, just like she did yest. I was not too happy with her on that, as we had about 6 or 7 inches of snow in my area. I wrote a sticky note on her assignment book and reminded her this morning to please put on her boots at school before she comes home on the bus. I don't know if it will work or not
At their school yest, they even had a children's author show up as scheduled, Brian Cleary. I was surprised he made it in yest, as I thought he would cancel b/c of the weather. He must be doing visits at other schools in my dist. I suppose.

The pic reminds me of my DH's past company Christmas parties, where they would hire a Sinatra impersonator to sing during the dinner. Unfortunately, his work doesn't do that anymore with Christmas parties
But it was nice while it lasted tho.

Rose, did you see the author? I know a Brian Cleary. On the shorter side for a man and thin. And balding. About 42. Didn't think he was an author, but how common could that name be? The one I know was an engineer of some kind-computers maybe. Maybe he writes on the side?.

I have not seen that but my DD made up a dance to Kung Fu Fighting.

I'm so excited though...the tutor called & can't make it tonight!!! I was trying to supress screaming "YES" into the phone when she called and told me. We did reschedule for tomorrow night though, so it will still be somewhat crazy as I have to bring the younger boys with me since DD has gymnastics that night & DH has scheduled to fix a computer after work. It would be frowned upon to leave a 6 year & 3 year old home alone plus my getting arrested would make things messy. However, not *nearly* as crazy as today. We will still have karate class though. I was just feeling apprehensive for DD with the play practice tonight because of how late it went & if she missed the activity bus trying to get her home. A lot of the sidewalks here are not shoveled yet & she only has her tennashoes on. Tomorrow we only have 1/2 day so no play practice to mess with.

Now, I'm just waiting for the little guy to actually fall asleep for nap so I can go out and shovel some. I would like to get the sidewalk done, especially for the kids walking home from the bus stop. We have one side done & one side isn't as I couldn't get to it yesterday by the time I finished the driveway, etc... I would like to get out there while it's still sunny. Our driveway does need more shoveling too but at least we can get in & out of the driveway so it's not critical.

Man did I luck out. My neighbor teen came over on his 4wheeler with a plow attached and plowed out my drive for me. I was going to hand him $10 when he got done, but he up and left. I'll have to go by his house and drop it off for him. I don't have to shovel. But I guess that means I do have to go get groceries.

geffric, do you think you can get away for a few days october for the motherland? i know you said you can't get off work at quarters end but can you swing a few days beginning of october?

the only responses for a mini meet with the disers here for the motherland so far are:
hersey: 9/30 - 10/7
bunchkin/sam: 9/26 - 9/30

i'll be in the motherland 9/24 thru check out day 10/4. after that, i have 4 nights booked at hrh.

let's plan to at least meet and see each other and have some fun.
it looks like 9/30 is the only day we all could meet for awhile.
if that doesn't work, i would like to meet up with both of you for some time to visit. just give me a heads up and pencil me into your plans for anytime.
i know you are going with family and i am going solo. i don't expect to intrude into your family plans but would love to at least meet up and see you both.

anyone else that will be there when i am, just give me a heads up.
i am meeting up with another diser for part of the time i will be down there. still, want to meet up with the chgo homies too !!

Me and the girls went out late this morning, and I wasn't to cold. I bought a new "down" coat, specifically for playing outside (on clearance) and it kept me pretty warm I really wanted to make an awesome snowman, but the snow wouldn't allow it - to fluffy So....maybe next time

Is it snowing by an of you now?
It's snowing here again, but nothing is sticking to the driveway.
The deer are also out (about 12 ft from my front window) and they are so pretty and peaceful in the snow - I just love them!!!! They are like having a pet, w/o having a pet (did that make sense?)

No, I didn't go to the school yest. or meet him. But I googled his name recently. He grew up in Lakewood, OH. He is balding and wears a bow tie. I don't know how old he is, but he might be 42? Here is his website.
