I'm hoping that this event will help generate some awareness of my store. I haven't had anyone come in yet, but the days not over yet - hopefully someone will come in today

Ya gotta stick the girls in t-shirts that say "Slo's Frame Shop". LOL!!

Hi!! :wave2:

This morning I had a 2 hour meeting with a couple of the other neighbors about our annual block party. One mom and I talked the other week about making it more kid friendly! :) So we are getting a bounce jump and having all kinds of games and activities. There is also going to be a cook-off contest for the adults and a bunch of other stuff too like raffles and such!! Should be fun!
We're just hoping for a big turn out! Like 100+!!!

Donna What board is your trip report on, can you put a link here please?? :goodvibes Glad you hear you and Mark enjoyed your trip!! :)
Thanks for having sympathy for my paper cut!! :rotfl: I topped it off by getting a blister on my other hand last night by raking and digging while planting!!

Debbie Excellent pics!!!! Looks like you had a lot of fun!! Thanks for sharing!!!! :cool2:

slo I'm hoping you had some lookey loos at the store today!!!

Well we're off to go to Target for a few things and to the grocery store. I thought I had everything I needed to make dinner tonight, but I'm short one thing.....the one thing I always seem to have a ton of.....shredded cheddar cheese!!!

Have a great Saturday everyone!!!

I took Kevin to the zoo yesterday, and he had a blast! He seriously could have spent the whole day at the Stingray Bay. I think it is the best "extra" that the zoo has ever had.

I had 3 customers today - hooray!!!! :cheer2:

2 brought in the coupon from the paper, and the other was a friend :)
I was really happy to see the coupon from the paper redeemed - makes me feel like I didn't waste my money afterall :)

I now have about a 1/2 hour left and then I'm going home.
We were going to go swimming, but it's now raining :umbrella:
Hopefully it will clear up soon - the girls really wanted to swim today.

Donna - Thanks for the hugs!!!
**I'm really looking forward to seeing the pictures from your trip. Would you recommend Macinaw (sp?) for a family w/ small children? Are there things for them to do there?

Crissup - It's funny that you said that, because Kevin made store t-shirts last night and I have one on today (he's our official t-shirt maker and the FD's). When Stephanie saw it, she immediately said she wanted a couple to wear. So Kevin is going to make some, and then she can be my walking billboard:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - Your block party sounds like a blast!!! We've been talking about organizing something like that for our block, but then it never happens - maybe next year:rolleyes:
**I had no lookers today, I really figured people would wander over here from the bank thing. Oh well, at least whoever came to the bank thing could see that I was open.

piget too - I'm glad you and Kevin had a good time at the zoo yesterday:)

Well, I better close out the computer and start packing everything up to go home. Have a good night everyone!!!

Good late evening all!!!
Just a quicky note. Worked today and the next 2 so very SLEEPY!!!!
Had a beautiful day at the Shedd Aquarium yesterday and walked all over Chicago. Walked over to Millenium Park looking at the globes along the way, stopped for a $4 Root Beer Float and $3 ice cream:scared1: near the fountain, then walked on to Randolph/Michigan Ave and caught the trolley to Water Tower and AG Store. The trolleys stopped at 6PM so we had to walk back to Randolph Street to catch the train home. We stopped at the LEGO store for DS along the way. Kids are in training for DL :rolleyes1
Sandy, hope you have more customers next week.
Bunchkin, hope your cuts are better. Happy Block Party Bash planning.
Debbie, welcome home- pix are great!!
Donna welcome home also.
piglet too, how were the cicadas for you at the zoo? We were going deaf from the noise.
Well, gotta get to sleep. Alarm rings early for me. :sad2:
Mac, going to church? Say some prayers for the rest of us.
Night.

As for the cicadas, yes they were loud. Due to my hearing impairment, I have not really heard them around here, so was happy to hear them, at first anyways. It got annoying when they hit a certain pitch, plus getting pelted 5-6 times in the face was no fun either.

I had fun watching the baby polar bear playing. He kept on knocking toys down into the moat and sitting there looking all "sad" to lose another toy. He was playing with one toy in the water until mom came and took it away from him. Very cute to see him look all shocked when she snapped at him for not giving up the ball right away.

Happy fathers day everyone.Well yesterday was my 44th birthday and my 2 year cancer survivor mark. Yay!:cheer2: :cheer2: I started out the day with grapes in bed from my five year old. Wonderful. We went to a preschool where radio disney was. We had a great time. I was more excited then the kids.  I would have went myself but I had to bring the kids for cover. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 My oldest says I should have pm'd Becky to meet us there. I said I was thinking the same thing. After that went to the bookstore to see Bob and Larry from the veggietales. That afternoon went to the Cougars game with my husbands work. Had a great and cheap day. I loved it. My husband jokes that me and my closest 3,000 friends were at the game last night.:woohoo:

Tigerrn2 Sounds like you had a great time in Chicago. Where is the lego store at downtown?

Debbie I really enjoyed the pics. You have a lovely family.

To all those who are, were, want to be, could be, may be:rolleyes1 HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!! Hope you all had a great day. We had a few new dad's today. Kids and DH are at DSIL house swimming in their pool and they took PUPPEEEEE with them. So I threw in a load of laundry after work and am sitting here in the peace enjoying my moment!!
poohlovermom, :bday: party: Hope it was a good one. Congrats on being cancer free. The LEGO store is in the Nordstrom's mall area on Michigan Ave just north of the river on the west side of Michigan Ave. I believe it was on the 3rd floor of the mall. Lots of sets there. DS thought it was cool. Just wait til we go to LEGOLAND in CA next month. He will flip out there.
Well, gonna :surfweb: a bit and then try to get to bed early. One more 12 hour shift tomorrow, then a few days of rest.
Later.

WAAAAAAYYYYY TOO MUCH TO TRY AND CATCH UP!!!!!! I CAN'T TAKE 3 DAYS OFF AGAIN! LOL

Kim - Are there any summer programs in your town that you could sign Kelly up for? That's the one nice thing about daycare (summercamp is what the daycare calls the program for older kids) is that they do all those craft projects with the kids there. I'm not real crafty, so I don't do many projects at home. If there are some programs in your town, like my town, Kelly may really enjoy them (then she'll be bored when she gets home like Stephanie  but at least she won't be bored for a couple of hours).
Actually, Kelly is starting a 1 week camp Monday, with her friend. She'll do it again 1 week in July, and with VBS another week, we should do fine. I kept her busy this week, kinda, taping up boxes for me to send my Ebay sales out. ;)

Went to see Ratatouille last night!!!
All I will say about it is...........................GO SEE IT!!
We will be going to see it again when the movie comes out on the 29th!!
Thanks for the "other" Rat review! :rotfl: Kelly has a FREE movie party on 7/15 to see this so I appreciate the POSITIVE review! :thumbsup2

Hello  to ALL!!! Miss ya!!!!! :grouphug:

We had a very nice day here yesterday :goodvibes
I was a relaxing fun day here with both our families:)
We also had some good pool time and we all had some really good laughs in there. You never know what's going to happen when you get the whole family in a pool together
It was a good day!!!!! :goodvibes

macraven - :wave2:

Donna - Thanks for telling us about your TR:) I look forward to reading it.

Tiggggerrnnnnnnnn - How nice to have a quiet house:cloud9: I hope you were able to enjoy it for awhile.

Kim - I hope Kelly has fun at camp with her friend :cool1: Is a local, daily camp? Or is it a one week overnight camp?

Well, I better jump in the shower and start my day - Have a good day everyone

good morning chicagoland homies:

New show.

On PBS Kids on Tuesday (seen here in Atlanta twice) is Fetch! with
Ruff Ruffman which is promising to have a segment at WDW where two of
the kids design a Rollercoaster (I am guessing at Disney Quest, but
the website with the details on this show (episode 14)
http://pbskids. org/fetch/ parentsteachers/ program/episodes .html has a
picture of several people riding what may be Big Thunder. As this is
PBS, the show can be on at any time on any particular PBS station. As
it is on here in Atlanta on both stations on Tuesday, then it is
likely it is on many places on Tuesday, but www.pbs.org should be
checked for exact times for individual stations.

My oldest says I should have pm'd Becky to meet us there. I said I was thinking the same thing. After that went to the bookstore to see Bob and Larry from the veggietales.

Becky I bet you were tired after you museum trip. How are the kids enjoying their summer?

First off Happy Birthday & Congratulations on being cancer free! :cool1:

I just had to crack up regarding your oldest telling you to PM me. That's funny & I have little ones I could use as a cover too. :lmao:

I had thought about Bob & Larry but we went to the pool yesterday where I'm now paying for it since I got sunburned. OUCH!!!!! I *never* get sunburned & I even used sunscreen but must have been out too long. That's what happens when you don't really go to the pool that often. We went so my 10 year old could make sure he dunked himself. He started swimming lessons Saturday & he refused to put his head completely under. The instructor came and said they were going to have problems if he couldn't get that down (i.e. they wouldn't be able to continue lessons even though he didn't come out in say that, it was implied). So, our entire goal on Sunday was to get DS to dunk his head -- well by the time we left not only was this kid dunking his head he was doing it without plugging his nose!!!!! That was fantastic.

This morning starts summer school for us (DS-10 goes) but no one informed me of what time the bus is coming, so I'm going to guess somewhere between 8 - 8:15 since that was the time last year. I can't find Laidlaw's phone number though to ask, I used to have it since my 7 year old went to preschool via the school system & took the same busses. It's buried somewhere in my stack of papers. It will be crazy today but once we get into a routine it will be good. Edited to add -- Good thing I decided to wait out at 8:00!!! They came at about 8:05! The good news is we can see them picking up another child in a cul-de-sac that people sometimes use as a turn-around to be on the correct side of the street for our drive, so I wasn't 100% sure if this bus was going to DS school or the other summer school since I saw it was a wheelchair bus. It was his though! YEAH!!! At least I know he is definitely on the roster! LOL!!!! We *have* been forgotten to get picked up in the past, so I'm always a little nervous!

Friday is Kid's day here and DD will be performing -- she gets to do a presto chango for it since she will be performing with the gymnasts and then the cheerleaders but it will be fine since she will have her leotard on. We did it last year too but it can make for a long day.

Then Sunday we have the parade.

So, things are going busy but I don't feel too much like we have had any lazy days of summer. Always having to wake the kids up to go here & there.

Hey everyone!

Just a quick drop in to tell you I'm still alive and I still think of you all

Just an update - Toby and have officially started the divorce process. I'm confortable with that decision, but I still feel like a train wreck :sad2:

But anyway, not much else is new with me - except that I'm trying to get back into the dating world without getting hurt and it's really hard, considered it's been 10 years???? :headache:

Meanwhile, I try to keep myself as busy as possible. I went to New York a couple of weeks ago for Book Expo (sorry Bunchkin - Bon Jovi cancelled his appearance! I hadn't forgotten about you, though!) I met up with a couple of DIS-ers from the ladies only trip for dinner, while there and that was a blast! Then I celebrated my bday on the 5th and it was wonderful - about 20 friends showed up on a Tuesday night to at a bar near my house to celebrate with me. It was nice because some were friends from grade school, high school, coworkers, family, new friends. It was awesome. I was touched. :goodvibes

Here's some pics: (warning, some craziness - and yeah, the boy you see me with a lot was someone I was sorta seeing, if you wanna call it that. But it was fun, nonetheless):
