Kim Why more surgery for DH? I hope nothing has gone wrong with the healing process of the surgery he already had.
I hope he's on the mend soon. ::yes::
Thanks Nicole, Sandy and all! He has a 'pocket', which is either scar tissue (probably) or a fluid build-up. Scar tissue means another surgery to remove it, fluid means draining. :confused3 He's sooo comfortable at home tho, and he has OODLES of sick time coming to him, I'm kinda worried! :rotfl: We've been home together 7 weeks now! And, we're BOTH still alive! :lmao:

I can’t believe in one week I will actually be 40. The good news is I will be in MK for the whole day!!!!!!
Debbie, CONGRATS on ALL your good news! Even turning 40! :thumbsup2 (Let's meet at school again, soon! :goodvibes )

zzzzzzzzzzz's for me! LONG weekend! :goodvibes

:surfweb:

We had a pretty low key Memorial Day yesterday (which is a nice change). We took a ride to Kevin's parents to see how is dad is doing, and he's doing much better - thank goodness, I was worried about him.

Today I have a meeting with someone from the newspaper (advertising), and I'm really hoping that sign goes up today :wizard: If it doesn't, than I'm really going to be mad!!!!!

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!! :)

HERSEY - I hope you were able to finish your yardwork yesterday :flower:

paint - How was your pancakes yesterday? They sound yummy!!! :goodvibes
**Your red couch sounds great, but I'm partial to red (love it!!!) I have a red chair in my living room with red curtains on the living room and dining room windows - it looks awesome!!!:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - How's the relandscaping going? I can hardly wait to see it!!! :)
**Are your in-laws still with you??

Debbie - Welcome home from Wisconsin:) . I'm sorry it was chilly, but did you have a good time - I hope so!!!

Rose - :wave2:

Tiggerrnnnnn - I'm sorry Kyle is still not well:guilty: It definitly sounds like it's time for those nasty tonsils to come out, when the mediciane isn't as effective as it used to be. If Kyle would be anything like Stephanie, after the tonsils come out, he will be so much less sick:thumbsup2 It's like those tonsils are poison:scared: I hope he feels better soon!!!:wizard:

geffric -

Kim - I'm sorry to hear about DH's problems:guilty: Please keep us posted on what the doctor says, and I'll still send loads of PD:wizard: :wizard:
**How is he enjoying his time off? Kevin would enjoy the relaxation at first, and then after a week he would be getting very very antsy:rolleyes:

Well, I gotta go get ready for my day - have a good day everyone!!

Morning

Hope the sign is delivered today SLO

Tiggerrn2 how is DS today?

Weekend here was very Eaglish.. we finally finished Geoff's project.. so now he has to write his thank you letters and then after finals, get started on writing his book..

We didn't do much but the project. DH and the boys marched in the Memorial Day parade, then went to a scout meeting. I went to my parent's graves with my sibling and then to visit an Aunt in Berwyn.

So the yard is still a mess and so is the garage.. Eric has an ortho appt today at 5:15 and Geoff has a DR appt at 5:30 then
tonight is Eric's band concert at 7 pm.. so I'll be running..

Hope everyone is doing good today... I'll be back..

Happy Tuesday everyone! I like starting the week off on Tuesday, although that means I'll be mixed up for a solid week now. What day is it? And next week will feel like forever!

So, let's see, I didn't get to see Pirates this weekend. I just wasn't in the mood and I want to be in the mood! It was a tense weekend around the old SamIAm household as arguments over home improvement and $$ always seem to set things to a real good start. Oh well? We can't always see eye to eye right... (yeah like we ever do :rotfl: )

Also, Debbie, you and I have something in common now. The signature marshall busted on me and you'll notice my new abbreviated signature line. I am staying the heck out of the cruise section as that seems to be where I got "pulled over". I did it graciously, but honestly, it does kinda suck to get that PM stating you've VIOLATED THE RULES! I'll take my lumps and keep on moving. I kept the important stuff like my banner for WDW Radio podcast and my ticker. I condensed it a bit, so hopefully, I am now fully in compliance!

So, other that that, nothing is new with me. Just looking foward to summer and our vacation to Branson. That will be here in no time.

Slo: I haven't been unnoticing of all the progress your shop is making. It all sounds really wonderful and I hope your sign is delivered on schedule. I can't wait to see your shop. I think I may order some Disney prints and then stop by and see you!

Have a good week everyone!

:surfweb:

Good Morning everyone!

We went to the CSI exhibit yesterday at the Museum of Science & Industry. It was nice but I'm very cynical & cracked the case we were assigned right away as soon as I knew there was a divorce involved. :lmao: That was before I even looked at much of the forensic stuff. Maybe we just got the easy one -- I think we did though, there wasn't really much in the way of having to observe much at the crime scene, not a lot of little details that were important to the case at all. From looking on-line the other 2 scenes look like there was a lot more stuff you could easily over-look if you weren't careful.

There are 3 cases you can be assigned to (all 3 are on the website). You don't get to pick, although if it's not busy you can choose. We decided to just go with whatever one we were assigned. We were going to go through a 2nd time but ran out of time. I had tickets for all of us but we decided it would be better for just the 2 older kids. I asked if you could come later than your time on your ticket & they said yes, so we could have gone through a 2nd time. The way the labs were set-up you could go read about all 3 scenes though, just wouldn't have the paper to write down the information so you could figure them all out without seeing the other 2. There is no time limit once you are in there.

You watch a video welcoming you to the CSI team, then you take your clipboard & sheet to the crime scene and make notes of your observations. Then you go to 3 labs & the autospy area where they have seperate area/information for each crime scene. On your sheet there is a multiple choice questions and the answers are in the labs, you just have to look around, read what is there.

Then when you are done with those, you go to the end of the exhibit where you put your answers in a computer and it tells you if you are correct or not, then gives you the scenerio of what happened.

They also had some live people helping in there where you could do your fingerprint and then you could check to see if you had arches, swirls or something else that I can't remember.

They take your picture before going into the exhibit and at the end you can buy it. 5 pictures for $20 ($18 for members which we are)-- comes with a keychain & one of those cardboard holders. Unless you break the machine and then they might give you a really good discount. That happened to us -- went to pay for it and something froze up or something so they had to get the technician up there. I think that took a good 20 minutes to get it all figured. It was just how the day was going.

The museum was not very busy at all which was nice. We practically got through the whole thing in 1 day and that almost never happens. We spent a ton of money though as *usually* I pack lunches for all of us and just get a pop there but I didn't do that this time so we had to buy our lunch (we ended up basically having cold pizza and that was at lunchtime so you would have thought it would have been warmer. blech!)

Wow! The CSI thing seems pretty cool, might have to head there soon.

Does anyone here have (or have had) a season pass to Great America? We are thinking about getting a single pass for either me or DH. Supposedly it comes with 5 free passes, which we could then use to get everyone else in. nathan has his free pass from the reading thing, so 3 of us could go a second time. Just wondering what you all think, and any pros/cons you can think of. We have not gone in years, and would only go 1-2 times tops anyways due to gas cost. Plus, maybe we could get "Twicketts" for two of us, allowing everyone to go twice. :confused3

I think there is a catch to get the free passes. I think you have to buy tickets for the whole family or something. I can't remember exactly what the problem was. It might have been when they were offering discount tickets too though. Also, did you see you can get $20.00 off a ticket with Coke can's???

Does anyone here have (or have had) a season pass to Great America? . :confused3

We have in the past several years.. the great thing is that they are good at any Great America.. so we have been to the six flags at St Louis, KY, Tx and washington DC..

i don't remember about the free ticket thing, but you can call and ask...? Hurrican harbor is fun too..

Hi piglet too
I have not done a season pass for at least 20 yrs at Great America.
BethanyF I think does the season pass with her son Sam or at least she used to.
I have the 2 free tix for my kids for the 6 hrs of reading thing they did with school.
Sorry I couldn't help that much. You might want to ask BethanyF as she has done the season pass thing :)

Piglet- I think the free passes are to be used during specified times only...usually not during the weekends or busier times. We had passes last year and ended up barely using them.
Tiggerrn- I thought of the animal smells, too! I know what you mean, though. We used to camp in Fort Wilderness every year when I was little. Now, if I catch the scent of damp pine trees in the morning, it reminds me of camping!
Slo- I think we are going to have a modern fam room (red and black) and a tuscan (gold and red) kitchen and dining room. One thing at a time!
Debbie- Happy Pre-Bday! MK is not a bad place to turn 40!
Bunchkin- Ikea pancakes were okay, but I prefer Bisquick. So light and fluffy! I spread the Ikea cakes with Nutella, though, so they couldn't be too bad, now could they?
Pretty low key Memorial Day...priced moving vans (yikes) and tried to round up some helpers. I need to get on the ball with my packing. DBF brought home a few boxes and Tiggerrn is giving me some tomorrow, so I won't have that excuse anymore!
Stay cool, Chicagoans!

Good afternoon to all! My a/c is kicking in and I'm still hot, so I know it's either majorly hot outside, or I'm doing the hot-flash/power surge thing again!

We had a good weekend here...went to see Shrek on Saturday. I would give it a 3 out of 5, there were some really funny moments, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more originality, I guess. Mark and I went up to Lake Geneva for the day on Sunday. It was incredibly nice weather, so we sat out by the lake, had lunch at Popeye's (not the chicken restaurant, but the restaurant on Lake Geneva that has *great* chicken, lol!), and then went over to the Geneva Inn and sat outside on the patio overlooking the lake there. On Monday, we went to the Memorial Day parade in Itasca (very strange parade, it seems like there's about a 10-minute delay between marchers, so it's hard to tell when the parade is really over!) It was difficult to go back to work today, and I only work part-time, so I know it had to be doubly hard for all of you full-timers!

Hope everyone else had a GREAT weekend, and special shout outs to all of Chicagoland. :)

PS to Debbie6221...sorry, again, for being so absent-minded!:rolleyes1

Thanks everyone! I finally found the "small print" on the free passes, and doubt they would be worth it. I suppose we could only take Nathan (and I just go) but I really had hoped to make this a nice family thing to do. Even with the $20 off Coke cans (which I need to go find now) it still adds up real quick.

How was Popeye's I haven't been there since forever. I really liked their food.
I hear you about the hot flash thing. Had to race through shopping tonight cause I was getting one. Makes me claustrophobic.

Howdy!! :wave2:

Just said goodbye to mother in-law as they leave to go back home to Vegas tomorrow. She goes in for surgery on the 9th to remove the cancerous tumor in her bladder. I'm hoping the best for her, but I'm worried that this won't be the last of it.

Earlier today I took the kids in for dental check ups and Lauren ended up with 4 cavities in her baby teeth!!!!!
All that yelling to brush longer and floss more obviously fell on deaf ears!!!

But on a happier note, I was able to score dinner ressie at Whispering Canyon Cafe for our upcoming trip. :cool1: I've been trying for weeks to get a ressie but the only available times are after 8:30pm!!!

SamIAm Hopefully you'll get to see POTC soon!! :)

Tisk, tisk to you on siggie violating!!! ;)
I'm sure I'll get busted soon for mine...........again!!! :rotfl: So....welcome to the club!! :flower3:

Debbie That's so nice that your parents upgraded your room at AK!! :goodvibes

Donna Sounds like you had a nice weekend!!! :)

paintnolish I've never tried Nutella because I think it looks scary!! :scared1: So what does it taste like???
Kerasotes was handing out free samples of it the other day!!! Isn't that totally weird!!??!!!

Tony just ran out to buy a new generator for our business, so I'm going to take this opportunity to have total control of the tv!!!

Have a great night all!!! :teeth:

i have the season pass to great america. i have had them since 1992. I renew each year.

if you renewed by the past monday, you get 2 free passes to give away.
if you buy now one season pass, you get a coupon booklet that has 2 different free days in it for one person. they are specific dated days.

you can buy the 2 day pass that does not have to be used on consequete days. these cost a bit more than twickets but you are not locked in to returning the next day for usage of the extra ticket. Twickets make you use them the next day at the park.

Piglet- I think the free passes are to be used during specified times only...usually not during the weekends or busier times. We had passes last year and ended up barely using them.
time!

i don't have the free passes in front of me so i don't know if there are restrictions on them.

if you go to the six flags website, i would think the info would be listed there.
you can get price information about six flags either thru the website or by calling them.

hth

Bunchkin- Chocolate frosting with a hint of hazelnut. I have no idea why they were handing it out after POTC! Once, we got Yogos after a movie there, too!

I just wanted to alert all the Build A Bear fans out there that there is a special promotion from now until June 30th. If you build a Winnie the Pooh, you can build another and BABW will donate it to a local children's hospital to help cheer up a sick child. The second bear is, of course, at no charge to you. So, if you would like to help BABW and the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation make a sick child happy, stop in your local BABW today and treat yourself to a Winnie the Pooh!

Thanks again Sandy! DH doesn't really have 'problems' but he still has restrictions and, if the 'pocket' doesn't go away, THEN he'll have problems. Make sense? :confused3

DH is not the antsy type. He does what he does. He's a hard worker tho so, this IS a setback for him. :guilty: In most regards, no one would know there's anything wrong with him but, little things like today, at Jewel, I was lifting the heaviest stuff and the checker made notice of it. :rotfl: This is just one of the reasons he hasn't been able to return to work. :rolleyes1 Bosses and co-workers would be the same way! :sad2:

Many have already replied but, here's MY take on those passes....

We had them the past 2 years. 1st, you have to buy them in 4s at Jewel and I think online as well. Not sure about that but, with ALL the discounts that are offered and 2nd day, ANY day (NON-twickets), you score better than getting passes. I was actually kinda miffed last year, noticing all the discounts and 2nd day offers that I decided to forget passes this year! IF you're going more than 3 times a year, it might pay off! :confused3 But, the claim that it pays for itself after less than 2 visits is just not true. We went already once with a discount ticket and we bought 2nd day ($15!) tickets when we got there. In the end, EACH ticket will have cost us $27 but will get us in another 2 times! That's why I say 3 (or MORE) vists MIGHT be worth passes but, I'm not sure. And remember, there's that RIDICULOUS parking cost!

I think there is a catch to get the free passes. I think you have to buy tickets for the whole family or something. I can't remember exactly what the problem was. It might have been when they were offering discount tickets too though. Also, did you see you can get $20.00 off a ticket with Coke can's???
$20 is a BIG savings! It used to be $10. I think a 1 day ticket is $54.99 now. Not sure tho. It's at least that tho.

Piglet- I think the free passes are to be used during specified times only...usually not during the weekends or busier times. We had passes last year and ended up barely using them.
Yes, I agree, the free friend passes are for specific days or time periods only, usually during the week.

And, tell Lauren to brush TWICE a day! That's the only thing that stopped Kelly's cavities. :thumbsup2

Stay COOL everyone!!!!! :mickeybar

What a stressful day yesterday!!!!!
MY SIGN IS STILL NOT UP!!!!!:headache: :headache: :headache:
The sign guy totally dropped the ball, and didn't fill out all the right paperwork. So I had to make a bizillion phone calls to get all this right, and make sure all the right people filled out their paperwork, and then make sure that the filled paperwork was sent to the town, and received in the right hands at the town. :headache: What a joke!!!!! So....now that all this paperwork is filled out, and the correct people in the town have received it, I should hopefully get my sign today:wizard: This whole thing is like a soap opera:rolleyes:

geffric - Congrats to Geoff for getting his project done!!!:cheer2:

Sam - If you have a hard time finding Disney prints, I have a catalog that has a good selection in it. They would take about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks to come in. Another good place to get prints is Art.com - I bought some things from them, when I could't find what I wanted in my catalogs :thumbsup2
**Thanks for letting us know about BAB!!

Becky - I'm glad you had a nice day at the museum:) I would like to see that exhibit, but we don't have time.

piglett too - I'm sorry I have no advice:guilty: . I haven't been to GA for over 10 years.

Debbie and Rose and Macraven - :wave2:

Donna - Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!!!:goodvibes After reading your posts about Lake Geneva, I now really want to go sometime. Is there much there for children to do? Would it be good for a 4 day weekend? (not that we are going this year, but maybe next year)

HERSEY - What is Alex doing this summer? Are there any summer camp programs by you?

Bunchkin - Goodbye to your in-laws!!! I'm worried about your MIL too - please keep us posted on how she is doing, and I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers :wizard:
**I'm sorry to hear about Lauren's cavities :guilty: Does she have to have them filled, or no because they are baby teeth and they will fall out anyway? I don't know anything about cavities in baby teeth.

Kim - It does make sense!! ::yes:: I had to chuckle about your story, because when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant I had a bad back, and it was easier for me to walk when pushing the cart. People would look at Kevin like he was an awful DH because he's making his big pregnant wife push the heavy grocery cart. Little did they know that I wanted to, and it served as a walker for me:rolleyes: Kinda like the checker didn't know the full story with your DH yesterday. I guess those stories show that we always don't know the whole story within people's lives.

Well, I gotta go and get ready to receive, or not receive my sign this morning. If this sign doesn't go up today, heads are going to role!!!! (well not really, but it sounded good  )

Have a good day today everyone!!
