Chi flat iron

DD and I have straight hair and I HAVE to have my CHI! I have the 1". I can't explain it, but it keeps it nice, shiny, and smooth all day long. No frizzies from Florida humidity all day long. :) It only takes a minute or 2 to smooth my hair, DD's too. I make my ends flip up, DD keeps hers long and straight! :)

I can't imagine not having a Chi. I used a coupon and got mine at Trade Secrets at the mall for under $100. I had read that the warranties were not valid if bought on the internet.

I have a 1in and I have shoulder length medium thickness hair. I have a cheap 2 in and it is a little too wide. The 1 in Chi works much better. I works better for flipping out or doing different styles.

You can't beat a CHI. I was in the beauty supply store the other day and the girls whowork there were talking about how much better the quality is than the other salon brands. They were saying that for every 1 CHI that might be returned they'd get 4 and 5 of the other brands. No comparison.

I gave my niece one on her last b-day and I swear, she looks like a different girl. She was using an el'cheapo and there is NO comparison. I hope you'll reconsider. I know your DD would love a CHI.

Funny thing is that when I started this thread this morning, I thought I would get lots of responses saying that it was ridiculous to spend that amount on a flat iron etc etc.. especially given her age. My plan was to show her the thread and hopefully she would drop it and be happy with her el cheapo one!
Now here I sit going through the ULTA catalog that just happened to be in todays mail looking at CHI's.... Thanks guys!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have both sizes, get her the smaller one (1"). (I also work in a hair salon) The wider ones are bulkier and harder to work the hair, IMO. (no matter what she wants, bone straight or flipped, the smaller is easier to use)

Chi is definitely better than any Walmart brands.

I was told by my stylist that the difference is metal vs. ceramic. The cheap ones often have metal flat plates, where the more expensive ones have ceramic. The ceramic is less damaging, and leaves the hair smoother and more manageable than the metal...

who knows...

I opened this thread expecting a bunch of negative responses- "it's too expensive."

And now you all have convinced me to put on on MY christmas list.

Thanks DISers, for helping me spend even more money. :lmao:

My stylist wants me to get one and I will eventually. My Helen of Troy is working fine for me right now, but the handle is broken. I too was looking at ebay but 1)my stylist says there's a lifetime guarantee that you won't get if you get it on ebay. You have to buy it from a salon or shop. And 2) if you do want to go with ebay you have to be careful. If you type in "chi flat iron" you're likely going to pull up a bunch of not-chi flat irons that are being sold with "chi silk infusion". That's why they're pulling up as a chi flat iron because they throw a chi product in there. Does that make sense?

I have shoulder length, thick hair and I plan on getting the 1 inch. I have a two inch now and it's hard to get the hair that's close to my scalp (which is exactly where I need it the most). Besides it's really not going to go faster with a wider plate.

I bought a Conair and had horrible luck with it. Ended up getting a Chi on sale at JCPenny's for $95 and LOVE IT !!! I use it on my 7yr and it does not dry out her hair and straightens it in no time. (no more bed head :sunny: ) Get the Chi oil and it works even better.

Its definitely worth the $$.
