Hi,

Im new here and Iam planning on going to DLP in April next year for my daughters 6th birthday. Wanting to stay in one of the more affordable Disney hotels - Cheyenne or Santa Fe - can anyone adivse which one is the best? Is there anything that really stands out in one and not the other or are they both much the same?

Thanks

Lynsey.

Depends on what you are looking for. If it is just a place to sleep then Santa Fe is more than enough. 2 double beds are the standard. In Cheyenne the standard is bunk beds. If the theme is important most people would recommend Cheyenne as many don't like the look of the Santa Fe; but it was more than enough for our holiday last year and we didn't have 1 problem. We would definitely book again!

I agree Cheyenne is better themed but if you are just looking for a place to sleep and have breakfast Santa Fe does the job :thumbsup2
I stayed at the Santa Fe just last month and liked the hotel. We had a room along the river and the room was refurbished recently :goodvibes

I much prefer the Cheyenne. I love the theme. It's a great budget hotel.

They're both a similar standard, the only differences are the themes and the layout (double & bunk beds vs 2 doubles)

Santa Fe was given a "Cars" makeover recently, new bedspreads, pics on the walls etc. nothing major. Cheyenne is just a generic cowboy theme, personal opinion I prefer Cheyenne just for the overall theme of the place, but have stayed at SF too and it suited us fine. :)

PS don't be persuaded to pay extra for an upgraded room, waste of money IMHO.

Ive never stayed at the Santa Fe but have stayed at Cheyenne three times and we love it! The Santa Fe is ugly on the eye from the outside not sure what the interior is like though but have heard / read quite a few bad reports on it.

and I'm a big fan of the Santa Fe ;), have never in half a dozen stays there had any problems with our rooms. I love the beds, there are soooo comfy. There is nothing to choose between the size of the rooms or the facilities between the 2 hotels, you get bunks and one double in the Cheyenne and 2 doubles at the Santa Fe. They are a similar distance from the parks (they face each other over the river) and I really like the colourful interior at the Santa Fe reception/restaurant block.

I agree the outside theme of the Cheyenne is much better than the Santa Fe, but if I were choosing between the 2 to stay, I would choose the one which was cheaper, as once you are in your room, there really is nothing wrong with either of them, and the Santa Fe has recently had all their rooms completely refurbished.

I like the Cheyenne as it is much better themed, but have found the breakfast layout easier at the Santa Fe.

But the bar in the Cheyenne is a nicer place to relax in the evening that the one at the Santa Fe.

Cheyenne Bar has a resident band, we really enjoyed them, at Santa Fe OH got roped into singing Elvis songs on the mike :rotfl:

I'm staying at the Cheyenne, provided they have rooms when I get round to booking it... ;) Our DLRP brochure arrived today, and DS was literally in awe of "Woody's Hotel" as he's now calling it...

Having stayed in both at peak times in August, I feel I can comment on these :goodvibes The Santa Fe is absolutely fine, might look a bit ugly to some on the outside, but the interior is lovely with the refurb. Personally I prefer the Cheyenne as I have a child aged 7 and a child aged 15 - not a good combination in a double bed as they are boy and girl! As two adults we stayed fine in the Santa Fe as at the end of the day, it's just a bed and I really don't see th point of paying aboe the Sequoia (my favourite hotel of all) as who spends a lot of their time in their room when they are at Disney? I like a Winter stay at the Sequoia as it's got the best pool, but we're staying in the Cheyenne at the end of August as it's a great base and easy on the pocket. :thumbsup2
