I was a car sick kid and I'm still a Car sick adult. I use the Chewable Meclizine HCI 25mg tablets. You can get a bottle of a 100 at Walgreens for $11.00. They may look at you funny just repeat what you want they have it.

I take 2 tablets as I'm a real sick-o and the Dr. said 1 to 2 tablets. Dr. told me to give my then 6 yr old 1/2 a tablet.

I start taking them the night before we travel then every night of the trip.
Dr said by taking them the night before, you sleep off any drowsiness that you might get.

I can even ride Space Mountain!! And Star Tours!! But For everyday I carry the bottle with me, my friends car with double wishbone suspension kills me every time!! So I whip out my meclizine and start chewing!

The great thing about Meclizine is it works even after you start getting those nasty queasy feels. Which Dramamine isn't so good at.

I have not heard of Meclizine. I have always had motion sickness too. I take Bonine, which is also chewable. Maybe I will try the Meclizine. Do they keep it on the shelf, or behind pharmacy?

It's kept on the shelf.

It's the generic name for motion sickness tablets.

We don't have a Walgreens in my area. CVS sells their brand, but it's only like 8 tablets for $2.79. If you don't have a Walgreens then I'd suggest buying at Drugstore.com. That's what I did.

This stuff really works.

I've never had motion sickness on the plane.

At WDW I took one tablet in the morning, rode the bus to the parks, rode all the rides, and took bus transportation back to the resort with ZERO sickness.

This product was recommended to me on this site back in 2004. That's when I first bought it, and it really works for me.

Oh, and I didn't feel drowsy, either. Usually motion sickness medication made me feel like I was ready to sleep and in a fog. This didn't. I felt normal.

Thanks for the tip I have always taken dramamine (sp?) and it works ok but my DD6 gets very carsick but hates to take the pills so we have to crush them up and put them in icecream! :guilty: So if these are chewable and do not taste too bad she may take them!! I am going to get some today....thank you for the tip

This is the generic for Bonine. I can't go on Soarin' without it. Thanks for the tip on where to find it in volume. -- Suzanne

Try it before you go! Meclizine is less drowsy, but still knocks me flat. I take 1/4 to 1/2 of a 12.5mg pill when I need it for my vertigo. Takes me a good day to get over it. Not everyone is such a lightweight with meds, but even my husband and inlaws have to take it slow with Meclizine for rides. Great med though!

You are taking Meclizine if you take Bonine.

Will it help with that yucky feeling you get when riding a rollercoast that your stomach will come out of your throat feeling. My kids want me to ride rides with them splash mountain etc but I hate that wishy washy feeling in my stomach with the drops

hi, I noticed you mentioned that you get veritgo. I have had chronic veritigo for the past 5 years. I have had many different tests and tried many different pills to try and make it GO AWAY! I was taking Antivert - Meclizine 12.5 and 25.0 and it hardly helped. My doctor recently said to try Trimethobednzamide 300mg and it actually helps alittle with the spinning and nausea. But you are right, the pills do knock you out.

.

So do you find that the med. lasts for 24 hours in your system? I thought that it was only good for 12 hours and have never taken it before bed.

I have been taking Meclizine for years (started with Bonine when I was little), but always take them the morning of. I have never had a problem with sleepiness until recently. In the last year I have noticed that I can take it at WDW no problem because I am on the go and so overstimulated I don't get drowsy. But for things like the airplane, a car ride, or boat ride I end up in a fog and dazed and just want to go night-night.

I also have the extreme motion sickness that requires 1-2 pills. If I could take 2 at night and then sleep it off but still have the effects the next day I could get part of my life back!!! I have been unable to go on a boat or car trips (unless I drive) for over a year now.

Also, you can buy NON chewable Meclizine in the bulk generic form also and I think it costs about the same--about 100 tabs for around $10 (might have even been closer to $7). You have to ask for it at the pharmacy, and some will have to order it for you. I know I got it at Walmart the last time I needed some--they ordered it in and had it the next day. Didn't know it came in chewable (other than Bonine)--but I prefer the non-chewable anyway.
