Yes, this is a rant if you couldn't tell.

I work with the nastiest bunch of people. They have no boundries, no social skills and no manners. Right now I have to listen to this guy eat. He chews with his mouth open, smacks his lips and slurps like it's going out of style. I really want to move cubes. I feel like I am in the lepers corner.

Headphones don't drown it out.

I think I am going to puke.

ARRRRG! I just got worse! Now he is clearing throat and snorting. OMG. I really wish HR could do something about being this nasty! I'm really thinking about either getting him a book on manners and leaving it on is desk or sending an email through one of those websites.

I feel your pain. I have one of these imbeciles at my office. Unfortunately, I only ever see him at lunch and he is so disgusting with all the slurping, snorting and belching that I can't eat. My friend's desk is beside his and she tells me how he will belch and fart while sitting at his desk. Just disgusting.

Before our department was re-arranged I sat across from a belcher/farter. On the other side of him was a guy who would make comments out loud to him about how nasty he was.

The first day in the new arrangement someone was belching really loudly. Not one of those accidental soda burps but really loud. I announced in a very loud voice that they were being gross. It hasn't happened since. But the slurping, the smacking. Great for the diet I suppose...

I would have to quit my job.....listening to people eat like that just sends PAIN down my spine.

:rotfl: Is his name Tom? :rotfl: I had a boss that did the same thing. To make matters worse, he also picked his nose with his pinkie. :scared:

And please chew quietly. If you chew like a cow--I can hear you a mile away even if your mouth is closed!

Like nails on a chalkboard!

No, his name is not Tom. Sadly it's not just one person. I've already asked to be moved to no avail. They suggested headphones. They don't help.

That's terrible that so many people don't even realize how disgusting they are!

But I have a question . . .

:confused3 Why are all these people eating at their desks? Couldn't you or perhaps HR suggest that he take his lunch out of the office? Or, if he doesn't want to leave the building, at least go eat in a conference room or something???

I was at the library today trying to study for my Nursing final and someone kept sucking back snot and making all kinds of disgusting sounds! I was going out of my mind. I thought the library was a quiet place! I had to get up and leave!

It's not just lunch. It's their morning coffee, lunch, mid-afternoon coffee, mid-afternoon snack, sodas. Everything.

Aaaahhhh, gotcha! Boy, you're getting it all around. . . perhaps you should start wearing your headphones and sing your heart out, outloud, as loud as you can and maybe it will annoy him back! :rotfl2:

And to the library poster - UGH! That is the most disgusting thing yet!!!

Hey I worked with him too! Is his name Mark! I spent 2 years trying to avoid him...and I swear he followed me around he office.
Really I didnt do ANY work just hide from him!

The upside was I lost 20 lbs...cause I just couldn't eat with him around!

I work with one too! He is the only person I know that can make noise drinking orange juice out of a bottle. Earphones don't drown him out either. Thankfully he is going to another office next week.

I have sensitive hearing and these sort of noises kill me too.... sometimes to the point of gagging. My grandfather is a NASTY eater, he eats everything with his mouth flapping open and he is a loud cruncher... unfortunately we all fight over who gets to sit the farthest away from him, I know that is mean but come on, we like to enjoy our meals!

My fil sucks his teeth after meals.... he goes on and on, it's pretty annoying!

Nope, his name has to be John. He sat across from me at my last job for a couple of years. He not only slurped, smacked, and snorted, but hacked up furballs, belched, and farted. It gets better. He bathed *maybe* twice a week, he would obviously get out of bed and throw on whatever smelled the least offensive and drive to work--teeth not brushed, hair not combed, unshaved, he was disgusting.

His cube was a disaster, piles of stuff all over the place. I remember one day he had his laptop sitting on a stack of crap and "BOOM" it fell onto the floor. He thought it was funny.

AND...he was emotional unstable. In fact after he was let go, I kept an eye as I was coming in and out of the building for quite awhile.

I was never so glad as when they moved him and the guy who ended up in his cube (after no one would take it until it was cleaned and sanitized) was polite, very quiet, and just friendly enough to be the perfect office neighbor. :)

I'm stuck between 2 people who speak english as a second language (important later on). Anyway, guy #1 makes personal calls all day at work. How do I know that they're personal calls? He's speaking mandarin! He's a slurper and sighs after every slurp. He also eats canned fish and spam and will leave the partially opened can in the fridge. Guy #2 likes to practice his english while in his cube. Today he repeated "catch" and "food" to himself 100 times each, i SWEAR! Oh, and don't even get me started on the throat clearing in the kitchen sink.

Omg I can't believe I left this guy out...

He smacks his lips while talking. Bleh.

Yes, the job hunt has began (for reasons other than this, this just helps)

I knew that it wasn't just me! It totally annoys me when people smack. crackle and pop! It unnerves me to no end. I didn't used to say anything, but the older I get, the less patient I get. Quiet down!
