Well my family and I just returned from 8 days in heaven and I wanted to share some of my thoughts and "codes", or should I say "guidelines" that vacationers should follow when traveling to and vacationing in Disney World! Keep in mind some of this is tongue in cheek and I don't want anyone offended! ;)

Let me start by saying that I would never book another vacation during the 4th of July. The crowds were obscene and lines were unbearable for a family with 2 young children. On an average, 60 - 80 minute waits for most rides, couldn't even get close to Everest because the lines were so long, FastPasses were running out ealry in the day, crowds were nearly impassable in every park including Downtown Disney. My brother found two new characters, Riff and Raff, walking around. The crowds looked more Universal-like, than Disney. People not using the designated smoking areas, a couple of empty beer bottles found laying on the ground in the queue area of Peter Pan's Flight, wife beaters were the clothing of choice for many and plenty of unsupervised pre-teen and teenage kids running around (not the well-behaved types either).

Now during our 18 hour drive and subsequent 8 days in Disney, I decided to compile a list of guidelines that people should follow during their stay at the Magic Kingdom. Some serious, some not so serious. But I'll let you guys decide.

1. When driving on the Interstate, please be respectful to those drivers who would like to do the speed limit or maybe even a little over. If you or your car cannot keep up with traffic or pass big tractor trailers, please stay in the right hand lane of traffic. If you would like to sight-see while driving, stay in the right hand lane. When those of us doing the speed limit in the left hand lane approach you from behind, please GET OUT OF THE WAY. Don't continue driving in the left hand lane for three or four miles while we tag along behind you, driving along the shoulder of the road, trying to get your attention.

2. If your staying in a hotel that has two or more floors (if it didn't it would be a motel, right?) please control your children. The rest of us do not want to lay awake listening to your children running amok throughout your room, finding out later that they were chasing each other around and giving each other wedgies!

3. If you're a cast member assigned to work in the Health Club, sneaking out the back entrance of the club (which is on a path at the Wilderness Lodge Villas) to have a cigarette is not a good idea. Doesn't really promote the whole Health Club image now, does it? :sad2:

4. If you're over the age of 50 or sport a muffin top, please, no half shirts of halter tops displaying your midrift. :bitelip:

5. On that same note, if you are over the age of 50, sport a muffin top AND have a belly ring, please, save it for the trailer!

6. If, when you walk, your fanny swallows your bathing suit, please try a different style. (Note - this is for both genders) :lmao:

7. If your over the age of 50 and wearing a two-piece bathing suit, please stay off of Crush-N-Gusher. I'm still having nightmares over that English woman. Oooh... :rolleyes1

8. If you are from a South American country please learn these helpful phrases before entering any Disney park - Please, Thank You, Excuse Me, Sorry. They will come in handy. :thumbsup2

9. Fanny packs, purses and the storage compartments on strollers ARE still considered bags and they have to be searched. When told that by Disney Security, don't argue with them. Move out of the way and get your bag checked. :furious:

10. The World Showcase is still part of Disney. Trying to drink your way around the world is not advisable if you can't hold your alcohol. :sad2:

11. If you're in line with your child and there is a height restriction, don't argue with the cast members when they turn you away at the entrance to the ride. It makes you look like an idiot and it probably makes your kid uncomfortable. :confused3

Just some thoughts, 99% of us on The Dis understand these. My family and I still had a great trip and I wouldn't trade my time at Disney for anything else. Besides, we got to ride POTC on Wednesday, two days before it's re-opening! Perfect timing and it was awesome. The Jack Sparrow AA, makes the others look like Edsels! :thumbsup2
