I've got this blood thing going on where I have to give blood and get a IV. At home I have it done at my Doctors Oncology department. Has anyone had chemo while at WDW? If so would you please PM me with the name of the facility.

:thanks:

I would have a discussion with your doctor about this asap. I'm assuming you're cleared for travel and to a hot, sunny place to begin with.

I would imagine that Celebration Hospital would be able to help. If not South Lake Hospital in Clermont has a cancer center and I'm sure they could. Both of those are smaller, community hospitals and the one time I was in South Lake I couldn't believe how organized and peaceful it was, as opposed to other hospitals I've been in in the past.

But I think the first step would be speaking to your doctor. It's quite possible that his office will be able to set something up for you.

Have a great trip!

I absolutely agree with these statements. There are quite a few "cancer centers" in the area, including some independent, some run by Florida Hospital System and some by Orlando Regional Health Care.

The office or center you are currently using should have a contact person there who will not only provide you with a potential list of locations, but will process all the necessary paperwork so basically all you would have to do is walk in and sign a few forms.

I cannot think of any medical facility that would take a walk-in client for a non-emergency treatment of any sort without having been contacted in advance by the patient's regular caregiver.

In addition to Celebration Hospital, there are lots of medical offices near the Florida Hospital Kissimmee location (which is in downtown Kissimmee) and near the ORHC Dr Phillips Hospital (formerly Sand Lake Hospital) which is close to Sea World.

FYI, I'd steer clear of Sand Lake Hospital. I know two people who work there, and they've flat out said they never want their loved ones treated there. It's not the level of care, it's the patient base that makes it more than a bit chaotic.

Thanks for all of your input. I want to be ready just in case.

:thanks:
