My chemo has been done for 2 years now, but now I am noticing that I am having problems with my teeth. I had a tooth crowned in December, but dealt with the pain from it for probably 6 months before I went in to have it looked at. Now, I have another tooth that is giving me problems, and I am worried I will need that one crowned as well. Up until this point, the only problem with my teeth was the occasional filling, and now all these problems are popping up. Does anyone know if there is a correlation between chemo and tooth issues?

According to my friend who had chemo maybe 10-15 years ago it does a job on your teeth. She is facing major dental work and has had problems in the past. Maybe if you get things taken care of as soon as possible you will avoid what she has gone through. She let her teeth go to some extent.

Guh, I was worried about that. I hate the dentist!

Actually, I have another GF who just got over chemo 2 yrs ago and she too is having tooth problems and I nver really thought about it but this fits in. The thing is with her also she hates the dentist also. Did not go for years now she too is paying but I do not know if it is middle age, lack of care or the chemo or both. As I said to her and I will say to you....you went through cancer surgery, you went through chemo and you hate the dentist!! Jeesh....on a scale of 1 to 10 dentist is a 5 chemo is a 10.
