Chefs de France?

We've noted a significant difference in the quality/value of the meal between lunch and dinner at this place. In our experience, lunch is a good deal and the service is great. However, at dinner the food is not very tasty and service is poor.

I'd encourage other folks that respond to this thread to specify if they had lunch or dinner.

The whole lunch being better than dinner thing seems so bizarre. Why wouldn't both be good, if lunch is? We have had lunch there and loved it. Anyone know why the quality changes?

We did the CP there for dinner on 12/25. Food and service were good. I would return. We were lucky enough to have Remy come right to our table which made the meal even better.

Just ate there 2 weeks ago, have been several times, still one of the highlights; only thing we had in our party that was less than delicious was the dessert crepe. Lobster bisque was out of this world!

We had an early dinner seating.

Even more specifically...for those of you who did enjoy it, what meal did you get that was good?

We have eaten at Les Chefs 2-3 times and enjoyed it. The beef tenderloin and French onion soup were quite good. Desserts were great. We were on the dining plan though.

The portions can be a bit on the smaller side and the wait staff can be a bit edgey sometimes but we still enjoyed it.

Love the location and atmosphere. Unfortunately we never got to see Remy....my daughter would have loved that.

As a previous poster said, Les Chefs is the one restaurant in Disney my family will not go back to.
The Good - bread was good at the beginning of the meal; desserts were also really good - the sorbet trio was awesome! My mom had the steak and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly.
The Bad - service was really slow. Had the lobster bisque to start and it tasted like tomato soup with a big square chunk of cold lobster dropped in the middle. My dad had the seafood special with mahi, tiger shrimp, and scallops and I had the salmon dish. Both lacked any real flavor and the salmon was overcooked. Worst of all, we used two dining plan credits for this meal because we booked with the candlelight processional package.

Lots of other great restaurants in world showcase....I'd skip this one.

..... Since we are staying at the Boardwalk, we are going to try a bunch of World Showcase restaurants...they are so close...

A link to my dining reviews is below.... and this was for lunch! So, I'm interested in the lunch vs. dinner thing too. Has to be the same food though, right?

We enjoyed Chefs de France and if you time it right, Remy might visit your table. Now, I thought the Short Ribs were delicious. I had escargot as an appetizer but can't say if they were good or not, 1st time eating escargot... Would I order escargot again? No... but I can say I tried it! Desserts were delicious.

We absolutely loved Flying Fish Cafe at the Boardwalk Inn. And the evening entertainment on the Boardwalk was fun too. DS5 was pulled into the act.

For Epcot, here's what we liked the most... not in any order.

Garden Grill - fun interactions with characters. Food served family style - fish, turkey tasted very good, veggies and salad fresh and yummy.

Restaurant Marrakesh - I like that the food is a little different... but the music and belly dancing was very enjoyable (starts around 12:50pm, then about every hour). Some children were invited to try belly dancing on the floor (in regular clothes).

Biergarten - Buffet, but plenty of variety and good quality Lunch and Dinner are about the same except saurbraten (sour beef) is only at dinner. Music is entertaining, dance floor in front of the stage.

For really good food, Flying Fish Cafe was the winner for us...

We had good food and dining experiences at other restaurants in Epcot too, but the ones above are our favorites because of the entertainment that comes with the meal.

We absolutely love Chefs and eat there every trip. However, reading the wide variety of opinions in this post I would definitely say "your mileage may vary". My best advice for people is to try places for yourself as everyone has different tastes and expectations when it comes to service. The wait staff at Chefs can be a bit reserved but we always find they really open up if you are friendly with them. Try speaking a bit of French. It really makes a big difference.

A perfect example of why you must try something for yourself.

We had lunch there and did not enjoy the food at all.
I had the 3 course menu.
Onion Soup - was super salty and lukewarm
Toasted Ham & Cheese - lukewarm and greasy
Profiteroles au chocolat - not a lot of flavor.

DH had the roast chicken - It was not bad, it was not great. Not a lot of flavor. "meh".

The kids both had chicken strips and they were fine.

We loved seeing Remy - but he was literally at our table for 1 minute. Glad we did it to see him, but based on the food, we will not be back.

Thank you so much for your input! I think we may just try the Flying Fish...my husband is in NO way adventurous when it comes to food, so I think the Moroccan restaurant is OUT!

How is Jellyrolls for entertainment?

We've eaten dinner there twice, and on both occasions the food was delicious. We always get the dining plan and do one of the Chef menu's special dining plan trios that allows you to get soup or salad, entree and dessert. I love their salads, the french onion soup, the chicken dish from the trio selection, the beef dish. We always get Creme Brulee for dessert, it's one of our favorite restaurants!

On the other hand we went to Le Celier for what was supposed to be a phenominal steak and my Filet was full of gristle. Uck. So - to each his own!

I like Chef's for lunch but prefer the Bistro De Paris for dinner! Chefs' dinner menu is really rather limited the French food I found to be disapointing, ordinary. The Creme Brulee however is to die for!
